I just can NOT believe how freakin' cold it is outside!  I live in Michigan and our air temp right now is -14 degrees with a windchill of -36. Our schools have closed - so no school for the kiddies today. But someone please tell me that they have warmer weather!  I need a warm visual right now! LOL  shocked

Ok here you go.  South Florida report:  Cold front came through yesterday.......  It is 59 degrees currently and forecasted to reach around 70 later today.  I have every window open in my house and am enjoying the cool down immensely since it has been very warm since before Christmas.  Still have plans to take my son to swim practice this afternoon at an outdoor pool.  My husband is out riding his bike wearing only tshirt and shorts.  Think of a mild early summer day in the north.

And.....since when do they close school for cold?  Back in the olden days we would arrive to school with aching feet and icicles hanging off our eyelashes on the those subzero days and no one batted an eye.  :-) 

My kids who were born here in the subtropics don't believe me when I tell them that "real" cold is painful.  They can't even imagine it because they have never been out anything under 40 degress.

-9 here in ohio... not sure what the wind chill is. but its warmer than you... LOL. No school here yesterday or today, but I have no kids so this doesn't really affect me.. what affected me more was wakin up this morning to froze pipes. No water. good thing I'm over the worst of my flare ( i hope ) or with no running water that bathroom could have gotten quite smelly till I got the pipes thawed out. LOL

It's about 78 degrees here in California! I don't know how all of you live in those areas!

Oh thank you thank you for the warm weather visuals! I really need that right now. But it makes me envious at the same time! LOL

Madabs, I was just saying the same thing yesterday! I told my hubby that they're making our kids into wussies. I never ever had a day off of school because of cold temps. In fact, I remember quite a few times being frozen to the bone when I made it to school (I walked to school). Many of the kids around me walk to school or wait at the bus stops so I guess it was too cold for that - hmmph! lol

Oh! And what makes it worse is that today is my birthday! lol Every year, it seems the coldest day of the year falls right on my birthday. We are going out to dinner tonight and then to a movie. But we have to go pick up my Gma so she can go out to dinner with us. Then tomorrow we are going out with a bunch of friends for dinner and to a dance club - this cold temp is going to still be around but we also have snow in the forecast now too.

Yeah I am at -24 today (WITHOUT wind chill) so, does it make you feel better to know you are warmer then me?? ;)

We here in Chicago are between -25 to -40 with wind chill. Schools were closed yesterday and today. I can tell you that it's becuase of the kids who ride busses. If they had to wait outside for more than 5 minutes for the bus they would have frostbite.

Personally i love it. I live in Chicago for a reason. As a teacher I have the day off too but think we should have still gone. But instead I will spend the day inside cooking and cleaning.I don't even mind taking the dog out. Though it is too cold for him to go more than a few feet before his paws freeze up. I would so rather be here than in 85 degree weather! I hate heat! YOu can always put on more clothing but there is only so much you can take off. Without the cold you can't appreciate the warm.

I raise my hot coffee in honor of fires in the fireplace, scarves, and warm blankets! here's to a night of tv and hot chocolate!

I am right across the border from Michigan, here in Ontario. Starting my car today was like starting a big farm tractor. Didn't think she was going to go...

Good thing I started it 15 mins before I had to leave the house...

I'm glad it's cold enough to keep the snow, I am going on a ski trip this weekend. Hopefully it warms up just a bit so I don't freeze my extremities off haha.

Yay cold!!! Yay hot chocolate (even though it wreaks UC havoc), Yay fireplaces!!! I'm on Cape Cod- it's not bad today, around 15 degrees, with wind chill about -10. It snowed all day yesterday. My daughter had today off anyway, an in-service day, which worked out nicely as she's been throwing up since last night anyway! I am at work though- she's on the couch, with Grandma.

I couldn't live without a remote car starter!!! I live near Saranac Lake which holds some of the coldest temperatures on US record. But in all reality once you hit a certain temp it's just cold... COLD IS COLD. I can tell the difference between 20 to 40 to 60... but I cannot between 0 to -40, I can't feel anything and my nose hurts, that's all I know.

So much for Global Warming ........ they promised warmer weather didn't they ? :-))

Well in the bigger picture it's probably good that it's cold! I also saw in TV that the Poles (North/South Pole) are increasing again ......

Here in Denmark - That's Northern Europe for you Americans (..... just kidding), it's much colder than last year. But only about -2/-4 degree celcius.

Ohhh how I miss my hot chocolate! I tried on a couple occasions to drink this not too long ago and umm no go! It made me feel absolutely horrible - nauseas, gassy etc. So in the evenings if I get cold, I settle for either decaf tea or decaf coffee. I got my gas/electric bill yesterday and eek! I sure hope it warms up soon so I can turn down the furnace a bit.

I'm afraid to go outside to start the car - I'm afraid it won't start! So maybe I will just forget about going anywhere and wait until this evening. My hubby had to go to work this morning and he said the truck was making some strange noises - whistling, grumbling, clanking. I don't think the truck wanted to start.

Thanks for the bday wishes! :) I wish I could claim that I'm 22 like I keep telling everyone. What is depressing is that as of today, I am officially one year away from being the big 4-0 eek!

I woke up today and the temp was -33 and now its -15 with a wind chill of -33 in central MN. Yesterday and today the local schools were close and so were the ones in the twin cities but nope my college was open! Go figure! On Tuesday though its supposed to be sunny and 30 above!

Here in Calgary/surrounding area, Alberta we're finally sitting at about +10 but still tons of snow needs to melt...I tell ya this has been the longest, snowiest and coldest winter that I can remember and I'm very surprised at how this winter has affected so many U.S. states like Nevada and Arizona with snow...so strange.

its about 20 here in Delaware with a ~17mph wind taking it to about 7. I Don't mind the cold as much as hot weather.

Although you folks up north in the freezer part of the refrigerator are getting brutalized and I think if I were in that locale I may have to change my opinion a bit.

Here in SE Texas things were "cold" for the locals this morning. It was about 30 degrees. I chidded myself for not dressing properly. A year away from a real "winter" and I'm loosing it?!?!? It has turned into a beautiful afternoon with highs in the high 40s or low 50s. The SUNSHINE is the best. We're in for a gray weekend though.

I am enjoying the break from the warmer, and more humid, temperatures of the south. I know what the summer will bring. However, I am glad that I am not experiencing the blistering cold that some of you are.
