I've had kidney stones for the last 13 years, but was only diagnosed with UC 2 years ago. My docs have explained that you can be predisopsed to stones because they can be genetic. When I first started having them my doc sent some to be analyzed and the test showed they were made of citric acid ( I was drinking over a gallon of orange juice a day; I love that stuff . I stopped drinking OJ for about 4 years. A few years ago I had two others analyzed and they were made of calcium. My doc ran some blood work and found that my body does not absorb calcium correctly so there is a build up in my kidneys. Then they did an IVP and found that I have sediment in my kidneys...The moral to this story is to stay hydrated. I find that I mostly end up passing stones in the summer when it is most hot. I live in TX so the summers are hot, hot, hot! I've always wondered if along with genetics if there is a link to UC, kidney stones, and gall stones...all of which I have or have had.
Good luck with your stones!!
