Painful lump on my shin

I have a painful bruise-like lump on my lower right shin. My regular doctor said it is most likely related to my ulcerative colitis.  She told me what it was called but I had never heard the term before and now I can't remember what she said.  This lump/bruise has been on my leg since around Thanksgiving.  It about the same diameter as a coffee cup and raised about 1/2 an inch.  She wants to take a wait and see approach.  If it's related to my UC it could come and go over time.  Has anyone ever had anything like this?

have had it... I also forget the name that my GI gave it. It did go away. At first I thought it was a shin splint. I found some relief from the discomfort of it by putting mineral ice on it and wrapping it with an ace bandage. Knock on wood it hasn't come back since it left... only had it that one time. But like everything else with this DD I'm sure it will show up again some day.
