I see Uma, thanks to Old Hat's recommendation. She is good and not one of those "old stuffy men" that so many GIs are...haha. But, she is still a doctor. Doctor's live and breath scientific fact and base things on studies, so if you are looking for someone that is going to tell you to go for a lot of non-traditional treatments, I would not describe her that way, though I haven't really discussed that with her so I can't say she wouldn't at least hear you out. I have relatively minor UC so I haven't had to see her that much(only 2 visits) but I do like her and drive all the way from San Jose to see her. The thing I love the absolute MOST about
her is she actually checks and responds to e-mail and very quickly. So it isn't like you have to wait to get an appointment to get help asap. I find that when my flare is starting I need to catch it quickly and up meds or change meds and she doesn't mind answering by e-mail and calling prescript
ions into your pharamacy. Not sure what insurance she takes. I have Aetna. Good luck Neighbor! Nice to see someone from the bay area on here.
