thinning of hair due to 6MP

I did have a bit of thinning of my hair when I started. But it slowed down after my body got used to it. You've been on 6mp for a while right? Have you been losing hair all this time? Or is it fairly recently? I use Biotin 5mgs to maintain my hair and nails and so far it has done a wonderful job. I used to have deep ridges in my nails before I started taking Biotin and I found that it makes my hair grow even faster. Can't necessarily say it makes my hair look any healthier though.

     Sherry, I have been on 6MP for about five years now.  I did go off it for a short period of time before flaring last year (my bad).  I hate taking all this medicine though.  The thinning of hair has been for the past several months.  I would say ever since going back on the 6MP.

     Wishful, I feel ok on the 6MP.  My white count is low though and I don't like that.  I go for monthly CBC's.  I cut back my 6MP from 75 to 50 mgm one day and 25 the next.  My white count was STILL only 2.4...much too low (guess I know too much about this having worked as a lab tech for years).  My GI doctor started me on the 6MP about five years ago and like I mentioned in former posts..it has NOT kept me out of flares.  Now, maybe I would be much worse had I not been on 6MP..who knows?  It usually takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months to "kick in" along with the prednisone.  It doesn't affect my appetite at all.
