I've been looking into probiotics and it seems as there are different kinds. I'm currently trying one that contains Bacillus coagulans but have noticed some with Acidophilus, does anyone know the difference between all of them or which one is best? thanks!

Not so familiar with those.  I personally use culturelle.  Many use VSL#3 and others.  I think you just have to experiment to find one that works for you.

I am from the crohns board but read over here because my husband has found out he has uc. My gastro has me taking Allign (sp?) and I really don't know what kind of change I should be seeing. This is very expensive to take and I'm not sure what should be happening because I am not seeing any kind of a change since being on this. Any help you can give would be great.

I believe in Align - for me.  It has worked good from about the second week.  Diarrhea went to formed stools - although still with blood and mucous and has remained helping.  Just my observation.  I just take one a day which is about $1.00 a day.  Been taking it about 5 months.

Elaine, Thank you for your reply, this is a new gastro for me and he started changing things around because I was having a lot of nausea , took me off Bental and put me on Donatal and added the probotic. I complained to him that I had been having a lot of cramping after he changed me from Bental to Donatal and Align. I did not have that problem before I took it. I also have been getting a lot of painful cramping now when I need to have a bowel movement, that was not happening before. I'm just not sure what was going to happen taking the Align. Not seeing any thing different with it.
I have started having some pain on the right side and I'm not sure where this fits in the picture. I just don't know what I should be seeing with the probotic beings it is very pricey.

     My nutritionist recommended Powerdophilus by Country Life.  She takes it herself.  I order it online, total cost was $17.88 for 200 capsules.  This lasts about 3 months.  Don't know whether it is that, the meds or the combos but working for me...keeping fingers crossed.

I guess pricey is in the eye of the beholder as they say.  $1.00 a day is not much to me but then it is working for me - that is a difference!

hi there. i tried vsl#3 and found it was too rough on my gut...but a lot of people do like it.
my doc said some people do have issues though.
i just this am bought the probiotic that dr. mercola sells on his site...seems like it has a lot of organisms and 10 different strains.
it's 100% money back guarantee so i figure i have nothing to lose if i don't like it.

there is this www.vitabiosa.com , its said to work better than pills. There also a japanese simular brand which I dont remember.
