Does anyone know if UC can be passed from father to children? I am really worried because I have a seven year old son and a eight month old daughter.

Yes there is a possibility. I don't know the percentages off hand but if I am not mistaken, the women of Uc have a higher chance of passing it along to their children then the father.

I got UC. Since it is hereditary. My Dad got it and had his colon removed in 92, right when I was showing symptoms of getting this thing.

I don't think anyone in my family has UC. I really think mine is caused by an inbalance or something bacterial.
I have heard it is genetic.

I am the only person in my family that has UC (including aunts, uncles, cousins, etc). One of my cousins has Crohn's, but she's adopted. Anyway, I think I read that about
20% of people with UC have a family member who also has it. I'm not sure what they meant by "family member" though...like would that include third cousins and such, or just parents, siblings, grandparents? I'm personally not going to worry about
whether or not my son will have it. If it happens, it happens. I just hope that if it does, he's at least in his late 20s before it starts. And if I am able to keep my UC under control, I'll probably have another child.

No one in my family has it either, I have 23 cousins and they are all healthy. There's no way of knowing if it's passed on to your kids. I sure hope I didn't pass it on to my daughter. I was diagnosed a few weeks after she was born.

My mom has Crohn's disease and I was dx with colitis in Ocotber 2008.
I do believe that IBD is hereditary and I think that it is there is a 20% chance that someone you are related to will also have it. Not necessarily your children though...
I wouldn't be too worried, my Mom never thought I would get IBD because she had heard that Mother's pass it to their sons and Fathers pass it to their daughters... I think that is a myth...
All in all I don't ever resent my Mother nor do I blame her for my disease :)

IBD is not "hereditary" in the traditional sense. Some families do have a genetic predisposition, and it's known that children of people with IBD do have a higher incidence. That said, it still takes a trigger to bring it on. Probably this DD is really several different but very similar diseases that may be carried on multiple genes or result from new gene mutations. It's known that everyone has multiple gene mutations, but most of them never affect us. With the proper trigger, IBD bothers us plenty.

15% chance that your children will have IBD with one parent having IBD. 50% chance if both parents have it.
