You ever get tired of seeing doctors???

This is only a mild rant!    But it seems lately that all I do is spend time at the doctors office(s).  And I need to get in to see my primary yet again.  I had an ingrown toenail removed last June.  It has now grown back and it's starting to hurt again - so I have to get in there for her to cauterize it so it won't grow back in that portion again (can we say ouch?!).  But the thing is, is that I was just in there to see her to get the ball rolling for more epidural injections in my neck. And before that I was in the ER for nerve pain.  Then before THAT I was in to see my GI to have my 2 year scope in a month.  Doctors, doctors, doctors!  Did I mention that I'm getting sick of seeing the doctors???    

 

I completely understand! Since I've nixed UC my doctor appointments and medication costs have been greatly decreased so I got to cut my flexible spending amount in half!!! : )

Between my own needs and the needs of my loved ones I have spent so much time at doctor appointments and hospitals IT'S CRAZY!!! We're hoping that 2009 is much quieter!

I try to get by without seeing the doctor. So when I do show up, my doctor knows I will probably have three or four things I've saved up to discuss! My husband's family run to the doctor for every little thing, I just wasn't raised that way. I mean, what difference does it make if you know for sure whether your finger is actually broken or not, there's nothing to be done about it anyway! :)

For years hubby was incredulous that I would be doing really bad but didn't bother to go back to the GI, because for so many years there was really nothing more that could be done besides prednisone or surgery. It was very frustrating for him but true. There are more options now, I guess I may eventually have to go in and check them out.

Oh and btw, I think I now have another very good reason to go in and see her. I was feeding my dog earlier, I put her food dish down and banged my knee a good one on the sliding door frame. My knee is now burning, throbbing, swollen and it feels like there is fluid under my kneecap. I'm hoping the swelling will go down after a good nights rest but if not, it's not like I don't have to go in see my primary for anything anyway *rolls eyes* lol

I definitely can relate here. I have seen more doctors and racked up more medical bills in 2009 than I have in the 20 years I have been married. So depressing!!

My husband and I always joke that my doctor appoinrments are our only dates. By the time I ask my parents to babysit for all of my appointments, I can't ask them to babysit over the weekend too. We did go see the Medea movie Saturday night and they kept her. It was the first movie we've seen a movie since our daughter was born. It was so great to be out together and not going to the doctor. Somehow, I usually have something once a week, whether it's blood work, an appointment, allergy shot, ect. We have also all been sick with seasonal stuff. We have already hit our $2000 deductible for the year at the end of Jan. I tell people I am really 85 on the inside.

I totally understand. I had 2 GI visits because of my doctor change, that was within 3 weeks of each other. Then at the end of the month I found out that I needed to make a Doctor's appt to see my OBGYN. :( On top of that my schedule kept changing at work, and I had a dentist appt that I kept rescheduling to work around work. I kinda felt bad asking for time off from work because of this stuff, because it felt like it was a constant thing.

Also in 2007, when I was first diagnosed I kept seeing my doctor for small things because this UC was new to me. It does get annoying. No real time to do anything but see the doctor. :(

sweetie - my son works for Abbott Labs as a scientist - they make Humira.  What can you tell me about your experience?  My treatment may come to trying it or other immune suppressant!  Thanks.

I hear ya!! Last fall I was sooo sick of all the medical appointments. It was certainly a big change. For years I only saw the doctor to renew my birth control pill prescription, but once I had my husband "fixed", I no longer needed to go.... so I would say 8 or so years went by without a visit. Now, that is at the other extreme, as I feel I should have at least gone for an annual checkup.

Well I more than made up for that during Oct08-Jan09 when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with me. In the doctor's office at least once a week, blood tests, ultrasound, CT scan, specialist appt, colonoscopy, on and on it went. The staff at my doctor's office no longer needed to ask my name whenever I showed up. When I phoned I only needed to say my first name and they knew my last name, even the spelling which is very difficult, LOL!

On top of all that, in Oct & Nov I was also getting all kinds of dental work done before my benefits ran out. Had also not seen the dentist for at least 8 years so had 8 years of work to make up for.... UGH!!! All this while I was so sick with UC (undiagnosed at the time) that I wondered why I was bothering with all the dental work - I was convinced I was dying. Fun times.

That is why I am always broke. It really sucks. plus there is so many other things I would rather do. You make an appointment like a month in advance and you still have to wait and hour are more after your appointment time. such fun times.I see a physician assistant most the time so I can get in quicker.

Rona, usually I can make an appt with my primary and be seen that day or the day after - depending on the circumstance. Also too with my GI - it's tough to get in to see him within the week, not only because of scheduling but because I have a HMO so it takes a day or two to get a referral, unless it's an emergency. But usually with my primary I am only waiting about 10 minutes or so and the same with my GI. I never have to wait longer then a half hour. But I have had doctors where I had to wait 2 hours just to be seen and to me that is unacceptable.
