How much is too much bleeding?

I've been bleeding on and off since Feb 13. Usually making my TP soaked with dark blood. Lately last few days the toilet water is pinkish red and TP is soaked everytime I go, sometimes the mucus is super heavy.
How long, and how much have some of you bled that you consider normal and what is excessive?

I just got done seeing my one doctor (general surgeon) who was treating me for colitis, he did a sigmoidoscope and said it looked good, yet I am bleeding so much, he didn't even seem concerned, or give me anything for bleeding. Thinking of seeing my general doctor and see what he can do to help. I haven't had this colitis for very long so I'm not sure what to expect with the bleeding.

While bleeding is part of this nasty disease, and no matter how long you've endured it, the bleeding part is something that I never get used to and it's disturbing for obvious reasons.  It's easy to think very bad things when you see a toilet full of blood. 

For me, bleeding of any kind represents a flare, and it usually goes hand in hand with mucous, gas and several bowel movements in short intervals but everyone is different.

I loose an enormous amount of blood when I'm flaring. I pass these huge. thick, round/ball shaped blood clots that are about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

this present flare is the worst for me in 20 years...i'm sure i've had worse bleeding, but it's pretty constant now- everytime i go to the bathroom...
it's brighter red and the bowl is usually tinged pink (if not a bit redder)
the tp is not saked, but it's quite obvious theres blood.
always very disconcerting...pred used to work to stop the blood pretty fast but its not working this time...

I just wonder at what point do people decide bleeding is too much and for too many days, and that it is time to go to hospital or call doctor? Sorry for the newbie questions, but just wasn't sure about some of this stuff, and I forgot to ask the doctor last time. thankyou.

It's time to go to the hospital when the toilet is full of blood. I would guess that if the toilet water is pinkish your not losing a whole lot of blood. You will get better answers if you make an appointment to see your doctor. I have never had trouble getting in quickly if I'm concerned about something.
I think the key is increasing amounts of blood. If the amount of blood is increasing go see you doctor.

I am also new around hear. So if I'm wrong some else can correct me.
