Is anyone here going to participate in their local walk for Chron's and Colitis Foundation?

I would like to walk but I don't know how to raise money.

Any ideas?

Your email looks like you are from NY too.  Click on your state and area and see when/where, etc.  It will tell you how to raise/donate money.  My son does the diabetes biking here in central NY and he registers and takes pledges online or in person.  Last year he raised over $2,000 for diabetes research biking 100 miles.  I cannot walk because of my knees and I see none in this area anyway.  But I would be happy to donate to your walk - let me know the link!  I believe you can leave the link here but if not - I will email you my address or ?

I went on the site, but where do you they walk at? Their was a seperate section that talked about donating or raising money.

On the right front page of the site there is a box says "find your local walk".  Click that on - select your state and it will tell you where the walks are this Spring and summer.  ElaineNY

Cool! I will do the Long Island walk on June 6th. I am so impressed that your son raised $2,000 for diabetes. That is amazing.

I was thinking about putting signs in local business places but I wonder if people will know what Chrons & Colitis Foundation is. I wouldn't know if I didn't have this terrible problem. All I can do is try. Even if I only raised $100 or $200, it is something.

Please email me and I will give you more information. I need to get the sign up sheet and see who they want me to make checks payable to. I am excited. It will feel good to do something to help raise awareness.

I have walked the walk in the past and every year more and more people have signed up. A couple years ago, they hit a record high for attendance.

Usually they have you make the check payable to the CCFA. And on a plus note, it's tax deductible. :)

Ps. As a side note, remember that you can not post your personal fund raising site for the walk on here.

The walk I did in MI - where I met Red - did have porta potties along the route. Thankfully I didn't need them, but knowing they were available eased my mind :)

I didn't raise money, but just attended and paid whatever fee there was. It was a great way to see other people who UNDERSTAND! I am hoping I am well enough this year to attend a walk near me.

Ha their is one May 30 in Philly, right in my neck of the woods. Theirs another one May 16 in Bucks County which isn't too far from me also. I mind as well do both. I like how numerous people asked about the porta potties I thought that was kinda funny, but I completely understand!

Well that would be a cruel joke on us if they didn't have the portpotties huh?! lol Put a bunch of Uc'ers and CD'ers together.........with NO toilets!

I believe we have two walks this year in Michigan. I haven't signed up for any of them yet because I don't know if I will be in town then. But if I am, I plan on going :)

I walked in mine last year and am again this year at the end of May in my city (Baltimore). It was run very well. All the fundraising is done online and you get decent prizes too. I didn't know anyone, so I signed up to join an existing team and met some very nice people last year that I'm walking with again this year. At the actual walk all the pharmaceutical reps are there with free gifts too (fiber samples, pill boxes, gum, mints, pens, etc.) And yes, there are plenty of porta potties with hand sanitizer as well.

I'm going to do the walk on Saturday, May 30 in San Jose. It's within walking distance of where I live.

Ive done the Maine walks the last few years and raised over a thousand dollars the last two years. I just ask everyone I know, put my link on my facebook page, put it on my myspace page, etc. I also ask some local business owners I know. They tend to donate the most. I am registered for this year but think I might be moving before then so I might have to switch to the NH walk.

I just joined to do the Dallas walk on May 17th!!! I'm so excited. I dunno if we're allowed to put a link to our personal page? I guess it'll be edited out if not... No sorry, this is not allowed.
