Untreated hemmeroids

I know I have a hemmeroid - it's kind of on the inside but protudes on occasion to the outside.  It doesn't give me too much grief but every now and then it starts to get itchy and it bleeds a tiny bit.  I have tried Preperation H suppositories in the past but for some reason they gave me horrible abdominal cramps.  By not treating it, will it cause it to get larger or cause more complications?  This is the first time I've had to deal with hemmies since the birth of my son 17 years ago so I'm not quite sure how to go about treating it or if I even HAVE to treat it.  Any advice would be appreciated it :)

ahh, good old hemmeroids. I get those same type, they are external but almost internal... I usually don't treat them. I use tucks ointment or A&D and they don't bother me too much. I don't find that anything helps very much. Maybe there is a prescription for really bad ones but mine only warrant OTC meds and they are ineffective.

My family and I are firm believers in using Vicks vapor rub on your bootie for the hemmie problems. It's almost an immediate relief and if you lay down and relax it's very calming.

Analpram.  It's a hydrocortisone cream.  Prescription.  Works fabulously!  I use it all the time. 

Sorry about those hemmies - Red.  Lucky you that they went away after childbirth.  Mine stayed with me.  That and the varicose veins!  At least the kids are cute!  :)

I was prescribed Anucort sups to help with internal hemis. I didn't even know I had them at the time.

     I used to suffer a lot with hemorroids too and I have ulcerative proctitis...what a combo!  I find the Rowasa and Cort enemas helped.  All the above mentioned treatments sound pretty good..except for the Vick's Vapo rub....oy vey!  Guess that would burn them out if nothing else.  Did you ever see a proctologist?  He may have a solution.

I guess our experience with the Vicks is different. It really did bring me much comfort and relief...my UC was just horrible and the hemmies were the least of my concerns but still a problem nonetheless.

Sorry you guys don't agree...I guess we all find our own ways to feel better!

Proctofoam HP is an Rx med. Since you had trouble after using Prep H, check the label before trying Tucks (otc) because it may contain some of the same chemicals. Lidocaine would likely help more than Tucks, though. My gastro applies it prior to digital exam & it can get rid of a low-down hemmie all by itself. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I did a sitz bath 17 year ago when I had that huge one after the birth of my son but this one is more on the inside. Will sitz baths work for inside hemmies?
