Does anyone else get dizzy with UC? One of my worst symptoms was dizziness. I'm feeling much better now and down to light headedness about half of the time. It's manageable, but so annoying!

I don't get dizziness, but I was light-headed at times, and found out that I had become severely anemic. An overnight stay in hospital with blood transfusions helped get things back in order.

Yes...!! And its reaaaaally annoying, I'm wondering if mine is a result of the Prednisolone I am on, however I have suffered with dizzy/lightheaded spells before and find if I do too much then I get very headachey then it comes on. It just seems to have been alot worse since I've been in hospital and on Pred.

What have you done to manage it?

I haven't done anything to manage it. When I was really dizzy I was very, very ill. As my UC has gotten more under control my dizziness has improved. I'm down to light headed sometimes. It's very annoying because I don't feel like I can trust my body during outings. I'm wondering if its a symptom of general bad health or if its from vitamin deficiency. I'm also wondering if its a sign that my immune system is "doing its thing." Sometimes when light headed I have more pain, but sometimes not. For a year before I was diagnosed I was light headed every time I was fighting a cold. Can it be a sign that your body is generally overtaxed? Can anyone shed some light?

qwerty, I am really glad I am not the only one feeling dizzy. It's really unsettling to feel unstable.

Rio in Maryland, I know that if I am anemic it is only slightly. I have been slightly anemic since adolescence. I think I will try some iron anyway just because I just had my monthly cycle. I have not had anemia cause dizziness before. I haven't been severely anemic and I haven't had bleeding in months.

This is usually a sign of dehydration, you best be careful with that, start drinking more fluids (preferably more water and some pedialyte) and if that doesn't change anything then you should see your doc.

I've been experiencing marked dizziness, really for the first time. I think I might fall over sometimes!

I wasn't sure if it was from re-starting Asacol (my Rx ran out and I was without for about a week), or prednisone (but only 20 mg). I asked my doc, and she said although Asacol lists dizziness among the effects, the studies show little difference from the placebo (she had neat links to every kind of study on her computer). So, don't think it's that.

I'll try drinking more water, that's easy and makes some sense. I notice it most when I'm in stores, and that's also when you can easily get dehydrated. And I had a lot of watery D the past few weeks.

I get dizzy spells a few times a day where I think I might pass out. Never do though, and it only last about 10-20 seconds. I drink tons of water though and am very hydrated.

I'm not sure which medication to attribute it to, but I know it's not the Asacol since I've been on the same dose for years and have only recently started having this. My guess it that it's the Prednisone for me.

The only time I was light-headed and/or dizzy was when I was very dehydrated. I didn't realize how dehydrated I was until when I was in the hospital they had to give me a spearate IV back of patassium. My heart rate was high too because of the dehydration. If you are having a lot of D, I was recommend Pedialite (sp?) - I drank the grape one, and added ice. I could only drink it extremely cold otherwise I didn't like the taste. Now that I'm hydrated, I don't have any light-headed or dizzy spells.

I've experienced lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting spells, and blackouts almost my whole life--most likely due to low blood pressure. It runs in the family. I don't think much of it. I guess I'm used to it.

I often get lightheaded when I'm sick. My blood pressure goes down. And then there have been times in which I've fainted or blacked out because I didn't get enough air. Now I make sure I have the windows slightly open when I'm driving on a hot and sunny day. (Yep. I passed out for a few seconds when driving once, because I didn't get enough air. Luckily, no one was in the next lane.)

Being anemic and dehydrated increases my feelings of lightheadedness. I always drink lots of water when I exercise, and I make sure not to get up too quickly.

I haven't had any D in a couple months. I thought maybe it was dehydration originally because I had D in addition to a very bad UTI. But now I haven't had D in very long time. I will drink more water anyway. My UTI came back. Yea, I get to see a new specialist now!
My worst dizziness was before I was on any meds, it has gotten better or worse with the UC. I wonder if it is part of the UC.

It would really only be part of the UC from being dehydrated as all IBDers are prone to dehydration...otherwise it's not really considered a typical symptoms like D or bleeding unless you're dehydrated of course.

I get dizzy, too. I'm not dehydrated or anemic. I don't know if it's the UC or the meds.
