That which does not kill me, makes me stronger" - Milton.
I feel all of us on this forum are like a family or in other words the sayings below explain it better. The bond between UCers is getting stronger.
No bird soars too high, if he soars with his own wings
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”
There is an interesting observation by Milton Olsen, on the behaviour of Siberian geese, telling amazing things about teamwork.
You must have seen flocks of geese, heading south for the winter flying along in a “V” formation. Scientists have discovered, “why they fly that way”.
By flying in “V” formation the whole flock can fly at least 71 percent farther than each bird can fly alone.
It has been learnt that when a goose flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the word that is following.
( Lesson learnt: Sense of togetherness and common goal makes assignment easier)
When the lead goose gets tired, he rotates back in the wing and allows another goose to take the lead position.
(Lesson learnt: Sharing responsibility keeps-up efficiency)
These geese honk from behind to encourage those in the front.
(Lesson learnt: Encouraging, Cheering-up and supporting the leader to keep-it-up)
When a goose falls out of the formation, it immediately feels the resistance of trying to fly alone and quickly gets back to formation.
(Lesson learnt: Rewards of synergy, teamwork are understood with the increased resistance faced while flying solo)
Finally, when one goose gets sick or is wounded and falls out of formation, two geese will follow it down to help and protect it. They stay with it, until it is either able to fly or is dead, and then they will join a new formation to catch up with their group.
(Lesson learnt: One must stand by those among us, in their time of need)
This is reality of life that we cannot do everything on our own. To make life work we need someone, like-wise someone needs us.
Teams can always do more than individuals because team involve more people, thus, they have more resources, more energy and more ideas…
Cricket Wisdom
“Life is just like a one-day match, with limited overs. We cannot afford to be complacent and waste time or opportunities, because it is not remaining in the crease; but scoring that makes us win.”
“If you are not in form, then make way (delegate and empower) for your colleagues to perform and score because the pace must be set and maintained.”
“Use the strength of your opponent, by tactfully handling the situations. When your opponent throws a bouncer, do not try a straight drive and waste your strengths, instead use tact and deflect the ball for a boundary.”
“When you are on the way to success, like a unstoppable scoring batsman. Watchout!, your competitors, who are more in number will spare no efforts and opportunities to restrain and ousting you. Victory lies in understanding their strategy, finding loose ends (gaps in their defence) and score.”
“Maintain stamina, be in good health and keep yourself fighting fit, this is also equally important alongwith the skill of game.”
“Consults, who are experienced are very important to business. Same like, are the team managers who are old players and seasoned men, who have performed and have experienced different situations and competitors.”
The best victory
is to conquer self
Life is not a race, Life is not a sporting event either, with only one winner and only one prize.
Had it been like that, it would have left nothing much to live, for the rest of us. Fortunately in every life, especially, in every working life there are thousands of prizes to be won; which mean, every one of us can be a winner; and there are prizes for all of us; whether we are bosses, managers, office boys or factory floor workers.
The great thing is that, to be a winner in the game of life, one rarely has to beat any other person, in the sense of making them lose and feel like losers.
In order to begin winning the
only person, you have to conquer is yourself.
As noted by Ronald Osborn
( “Unless you try to do something beyond
What you have already mastered, you will never grow”
Therefore,
Always, seek to excel yourself.
Put yourself in competition, with yourself each day.
Each morning, look upon your work of yesterday and then try to improvise it.
All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you. Walt Disney
The block of granite, which was an obstacle in the path of weak, becomes a stepping stone in the path of the strong. Thomas Carlyle.
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
