     Didn't quite know how to name the subject topic here, but this is the question.  Anyone out there have a lot of bowel movements per day even while in remission?  Not diarrhea, just regular, normal looking bm's.  I usually just have one or two bowel movements per day but today I already went six times!  They are normal though, no blood, no diarrhea....hard to believe my colon could actually contain this much poop!  Right now my rectum is sore from pooping so much but I feel good!  Probably all toxins are out of my body.  I do take a probiotic twice a day.  Wonder if this has anything to do with it.  I would say this happens to me about once a week or so.  I did eat a buffet last night at the casino.  But I never overeat.  Had a few shrimp, small salad, small steak with half a baked potato, green beans.  Dessert was about half a cup of light ice cream and low calorie peach cobbler.  Maybe something in the peach cobbler?

I'd be suspicious that the peach cobbler had an artifical sweetner in it if it was low calorie. So yeah, maybe that's causing some extra BMs. Honestly, I don't care if I poop a lot of times each day, so long as it's not urgent! Before UC, I would have up to three a day, depending on how much fiber I had. And during summer, when I have unlimited access to fresh berries at work, I usually poop a whole lot! :)

Chrinstine that's pretty much how I am...haven't had D for the most part in ages but the frequency and urgency are still my main issues, I have solid normal looking BM's for the most part and haven't had blood in a long time either....chalk it up to a different degree of flaring but if going that often in a day is not normal for you (regardless of the consistancy of your stool formation) you're still flaring.

Amen to that fruitgirl .   I wouldn't care how often I went to the bathroom,as long as I didn't have to run to get there.  Urgency has always been my biggest problem.

I am somewhat in remission. But sometimes I go more than 4 times a day with a total 'output' of more than 5 feet, LOL.
It's like 12+ well-formed stools at 5 inches or longer on a single day.
I told my doctor about it and she just smiled.
And I do have urgency occasionally too.

Ok, I gotta ask, if you're pooping that much what all are you eating and how much?

Ya justhinkin, you'd think that the more you eat the more you poop, and in general it may be like that but with an IBD it's a crazy world, you can eat just a little everyday and still somehow manage to poop alot or at least what seems like a lot, sometimes we go to the can many times a day but only a small amount comes out each time...messed up eh.

Even while in remission (or darn close), I have an occasional day with lots of BMs. Like you, it's about once a week, averaging 4-5 times, and they're all well-formed and otherwise normal. It just seems like every so often my body flushes everything out. (This is especially common right at the start of my period, or when I first get home after a trip.)

It's happened to me for years, well before diagnosis.

Yep, that's my husband's bowel habits, and he's very healthy! He just has a day every week or so where he goes and goes...and it's not because he just ate big or anything like that.

So that's probably OK, healthy.
