anything to help with spasms or urges/ pain and my issues

Is there anything you can take to help w/ the urge feeling or spasms.  I am taking antibodics right now.  (from Gastro for uc) they were helping for like a month and now the urges are coming back.  I feel like when i take my pain meds (from different doc for something not uc related that i will not be able to get agian)  I feel better. No urges or spasms.

Does anyone get pain meds from gastro?  I don't know what i need.

I have been on asacol for 5 years.  Not working don't think it ever has. taking this antibodic it was helping but not much now 2 months.  Pred doesn't seem to do anything anymore but make me eat.  I know he want to put me on 6mp but i am scared of such a drug.  I don't know if it is the drug or that i am 25 and climbing so high on the drug ladder that i don't know where i will end up.

I do think that i need something for pain. Cause i have  alot of belly pain but i hate asking for pain meds because i feel like i am drug seeking or something.  Don't every know how to approach it. 

I know a girl that has crones and has the same doc and i think he gives her pain meds.  I was talking to her not to long ago and she said she goes to the hospital like every 1.5 months.  She says her and doc talked and it is like she is not in more pain she just doesn't know how to handle the pain anymore.

Well i have been in pain i just never thought it so sever to ask for pain meds but when i take them for other reasons i see a big impact in my uc.  (better)

Do not be afraid to ask for pain medications. Just tell the doctor that you need something to take the edge off the pain. If your GI says you shouldn't be having any pain then find a new GI (I've seen too many complain about this from their GI before on HW). It took me a long time to ask my GI for pain pills too but finally I did and he prescribed me Darvocet - mainly because I am highly allergic to codeine in any form. But there are a couple of safe prescription pain meds such as Vicodin (used sparingly of course), Ultram, Tylonel #3. But keep in mind that narcotic pain relievers can constipate you - which is not a bad thing if you are having D many times a day. But you don't want it to lock you up too much which is why sometimes narcotic pain meds should be used sparingly.

You can also ask your doctor for an anti-spasmodic prescription. This will help with any cramping and urgency (maybe) that you may have. It will also calm things down in there that you may not need a narcotic pain reliever. I use Bentyl on occasion and it has helped me tremendously.

An antispasmodic might help. Also, you may ask about trying a different ASA if you feel Asacol isn't helping you. I got much better results when I switched to the older sulfasalazine.
