Hi Colabear,
Just wanted to quickly say, if any doctor tells you are too young for colitis you need to change him. They are not good doctors. I had the same problem except I was 28 years old, I’m over in England so I was using the NHS. (Which I do greatly support, and has been very helpful to me as well).
I went to my NHS doctor for having blood and mucus. The NHS doctor looked at me and said I was too young for any serious illness, he just looked at me, and since I look young for my age he said “A girl of your age cannot have serious illness, wait until the blood becomes dark red then come back”. He also had the kindness of telling me that they only refer 40% of the patients to the hospital and I am not in the age group. I was diagnosed with hemmroids and given some hemorid cream, which didn’t work. I decided to research and diagnose myself. I had a heath book, which I had bought in America. I looked at the symptoms I was having and thought I must have Colitis. I then paid private which cost £160 and got referred to the hospital. I was then diagnosed with UC. If I had not gone private and had not taken my health into my own hands the disease would be more serious than it is. My suggestions is to get another doctor fast, any doctor who says you are too young for illness is stupid and should not be practising. I now have a new doctor, which is great.
hope you don't have it, but let us know how you are
Kitty
