So I think that avocado really helps my UC. I was eating quite a bit of homemade guacamole a few weeks ago (pretty much every day for lunch!), then quit eating it when I went on my interview (it was a two-day out of state interview). During that time, my UC symptoms got worse...increased frequency and much looser stools, and slight urgency on occasion. I also tapered completely off of pred during that time, although I had been on the lowest dose for a while, yet didn't notice any difference until I wasn't eating guacamole as well.
I made some guacamole on Tuesday night last week, and have eaten it for lunch every day since then. Each day, my UC symptoms have decreased! I plan to continue with the guacamole this week, then go off of it next week to see what happens. I want to really figure out of the avocado helps.
So, princesa, my question for you (since you seem to have an extensive knowledge of supplements, and I remember we've talked about avocado in the past), is what supplement I could take that has the same oils that avocado does? While I love avocado and guacamole, it's probably not a good idea to eat it every day because they're so high in fat. I know it's good fat, but it's probably not the best idea to have that much on a daily basis. And, it's kind of impossible to eat it when I'm traveling.
Thanks!
