Anyone Pregnant and on 6mp?

My GI sent me to a maternal fetal specialist to discuss just that in a "preconception consult" so that we could evaluate the pros and cons.  We discussed Imuran (similar to 6mp) and she said that she feels comfortable with it and that it is better to remain healthy while pregnant than to flare.  She also said that if we decide to go ahead and get pregnant she would have to follow the pregnancy closely with extra ultrasounds and genetic testing to assure that the baby is developing properly.  I asked her if she felt it was not advisable to conceive under these circumstances and she said absolutely not.  As long as I was healthy I should not allow the meds to deter me from getting pregnant.  She did say though that breastfeeding was a probable no-no.  Perhaps you should get a referral to a maternal fetal specialist to discuss these issues so that you can make an informed decision.

We are going to start trying for #2 as soon as this "mini flare" I'm currently having is over. I got steroid enemas yesterday that my GI said he thinks will knock this right out. He was very clear to never start trying to get pregnant while having any flare symptoms. I have read everything I can fine on 6MP and pregnancy. There are some other threads on here and in the Chrons board too. We've decided to go for it when I'm healthy again and I may knock out the next person that tells us, "it's time for #2". People can be so rude! You never know what a person is going through health wise....just don't say that.

Baby #1 was not a 6MP baby. I was in remission 2 years before and 3 months after having her with just taking Dipentum every day. The flare after having her drove me to the 6MP. Breastfeeding didn't work out with #1 so I'm not worried about trying again. Also, will be another c-section if we have another b/c #1 was breech and I don't want to risk a VBAC.
