I've been reading a lot of posts in here about people taking humira for UC. Shortly after my third remicade infusion I've started to flare up again. Which leads me to believe that I've become immune to it. I see my specialist in a week or so and I'd like to ask about humira, but from what I understand it hasn't been approved for UC. I do live in canada so I'm not sure about the states. If theres anyone in canada thats taking humira for UC let me know.

I also don't know about Canada, but I do know that if you aren't responding to Remicade you are able to move onto Humira. I kinda responded to Remicade but third infusion I had an allergic reaction to it. I hope this is agreeable with Canada.

I am taking Humira through a trial for UC. It is a godsend!!! I know the body builds up an imunity Remicade but I have not heard anything about an immunity to Humira. I think it will be approved for UC in 2011.

Yay! I'm so glad there is a trial going on and work being done to get it approved. Never heard it for sure.

As I understand it, the 3rd dose is still the induction phase. Doubt you are immune already. Some it doesn't work for, some have a reaction to it, most have to build it up in their system to allow for healing of the colon. Don't give it up too easily. You don't get to go back on it---then you will have antibodies that fight it. I am not saying it is the right drug for you, just that it might still be. I am also in a Humira trial, and it has been going really well! (I just hope it is approved soon-2011 sounds so far away!)

I know some people have been able to get it, despite the fact that it isn't yet approved, but I am in the states. I am keeping fingers crossed it is somehow available to you. I know not everything works for every person, but it has been working well for everyone in my local study group, and while I don't like reading the lists of potential health hazards with any of these drugs, I have to say that it has given me my life back.
