Hey
Quick background on me. I was diagnosed in 2003 with a mild case of UP. My symptoms were only constipation with blood/mucus and stomach pain. I took Rowasa enemas and it quickly cleared up. Off and on over the years I've had mild flare ups with same symptoms. For the past year I've battled off and on with small amounts of blood, stomach pain, etc. I had my last colonoscopy in 2006 which showed no major changes. I have been taking Rowasa enemas for the past two months and still have some blood once in awhile. My problem for the past month or so is that change in my bowel pattern. I used to always have formed, semi-hard full sized BM's. For the past month or so, they have been thinner (not pencil thin), squishier but still formed and sometimes almost worm like (smaller pieces). I got kind of worried because I know they say if BM's get thinner it could mean a tumor or something like that. I am having a colonoscopy next Monday to check things out, but in the meantime I am worried. I am thinking that maybe it's just that my UP has changed somewhat and maybe I just still have a lot of inflammation in the colon/rectum. I have had bigger (wider) BM's on occasion over the past month, so it's not something that happens everytime although it's most times. If I had a colonoscopy 3 years ago, do I need to be real concerned that it could be something really serious? I have heard that colon cancer is slow growing and I had no signs of that 3 years ago.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Thanks for any input.
