nausea and being lightheaded

I've had UC for about 3 years now (I'm 47) When it first started I had periods in the day where I had nausea and a slight light headed feeling, the worst was in the late afternoon, about 5-6 pm.  It sometimes be so bad I would have to lay down for a bit till the feeling went away.  I was on 40 mg/day of predisone ( while I waited for my 6-mp; 75mg kicked in) and that feeling went away, now my predisone is cut in half and I'm getting the late afternoon nausea again, has anyone had these problems?

Asacol 9 pills/day

20mg predisone (tapering)

75 mg 6-mp

nightly steriod enemas

Hi..I've never been on pred or on 6-mp...but I would think it could be a combo of the meds and maybe not enough food intake or as simple as dehydration?

You can help the nausea with maybe an antinausea med. Gravol comes in a ginger tablet..maybe that could help if you don't want to take another "medication".

There are also antinausea bands to wear on your wrist or something to put behind your ear...something to consider.

There are times when I've been busy with not enough sleep and when I get home I just need to lay on the floor with my legs up against a wall or doorway. I stretch my arms out to the sides and I can feel my body "regenerating"...it's amazing. That, however, could be because I'm feeling distressed from being too busy.

You might do well with a 5 minute lay-down, but feet should be higher than your head....

I do remember having that a lot when I ws flaring in past years...food helped as well as water and a laydown.

I take pepto when really bad but generally just eating and drinking something small will help.  I also take both prednisone and 6 MP.  Relaxing can help and as you say laying down for a little bit.

Hi could you be anaemic? Though I guess your doctor would see it from blood tests... hope it improves

I get this most days...for me its a combination of medication and stress. I try to make sure I'm eating a balanced diet and drink plenty of water throughout the day and also I make sure I don't do too much/overdo it as that brings it on or makes it worse.

Thanks for the info everyone...as far as being anaemic, my RBC's have been fine. This acually happened BEFORE the predisone and 6-mp. As far as stress, I work in a hospital ( respiratory care), and sometime have 10 -12 hour days, or sopmetimes stress just within 8 hours. I will see if i can try a antinausea med and see if that helps. I think getting me off the predisone would also help.

Those symptoms can be signs of dehydration, are you drinking plenty of fluids daily?
