Problems after colonoscopy

Hi all, confused

I had a colonoscopy on 3 days ago, it showed infamation in my rectum and lower colon with an ulcerated just above the rectum. The GI changed my tablets and put me on predfoam aswell.

I have not had a bowel motion since before my colonoscopy, today I keep feeling I have to go but cant. I have tried using a microlax but still wasnt able to pass a BM. The pain in my left side is getting worse and I am also having some cramping and rectal pain. It is becoming really uncomfortable.

Has any one else experienced this after a colonoscopy?

Hi...just curious if you're eating as much as you normally would?

Since it takes some foods up to 3 days to be digested/processed and then purged, I would think that having a clean-out from stem to stern will take the 4 days for you to have a bm.

Are you still using the predfoam?

Do you ahve any antispasmodics?

eating and drinking fluids should help....

If it goes beyond the 4th day..definitely call the doc.

Can you drink coffee? That will stimulate the sigmoid and possibly a bm.
How much oral 5ASA med are you on?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I am not eating as much as normal as I am feeling sick all the time, but I have been drinking alot of water. I am still using the predfoam. I am taking 1200mg of 5 ASA daily. I have taken some buscopan to try and relieve the cramps but its not working.

It isnt that I havent passed a BM thats worrying me, its the worsening of the pain and the feeling of wanting to pass a BM all the time and not being able to.

I'd call advice. Maybe they can help you and possibly suggest you to go to emergency if needed.

It took awhile for mine to get moving, I was eating lightly and had nausea afterward, I had pain for about a week after, I think it was some pain from gas and some pain from the large polyp they removed. If you run fever, or the pain is really really bad I would go to the Dr or ER.
