Has anyone tried this brand of Soy milk? I bought some to try it since it's about
$1.50 cheaper per 1/2 gal than the Lactaide brand milk I regularly buy. This stuff has a weird taste and color to it. Is it supposed to be like this?

Soy milk does not taste like cow milk and last time I checked Lactaid is cow milk. Is this the difference you are alluding to? I prefer plain soy milk to cow milk but it was an acquired taste.

Yep that must be it. I think I'll spend the extra money as I don't like the taste of it.

Try the vanilla. I don't like the original but the vanilla is ok. 8th Continent is also good. I especially like the chocolate.

You might try almond milk if you like almonds. It's not overpowering in taste and is great with cereal!

I like the chocolate silk. It definately doesn't taste like regular chocolate milk but once I got used to the taste it was pretty good.

I've noticed that different brands of soy milk have different flavors. You may want to sample a few - maybe you will find one you like. There are also other alternatives like rice milk.
If you want to throw caution to the wind you could try unpasteurized milk (from a reputable source, of course). Tastes great, nutritious, and has lactase built in. Not sure if it is any cheaper than lactaide, however.

I love chocolate soy milk and it seems to do fine with my stomach. It is such a treat! I get the Silk brand because that is all I can find in this small town.

Hi sodbuster, yes it's suppose to be like that...I found that using the primadophilus reutier probiotic has completely aided with my severe lactose intolerance issue (as it does state that it does aid that as well as high cholesterol and for women vaginal health all of which I can confirm from my experiance that it does) so you might want to consider trying that probiotic then you won't have to worry about
your lactose issues as I no longer do...given the fact that you will have the same results that I do.

I only take that silk soy milk with my Starbucks drinks. I prefer the Lactaid no matter the cost. It's closer to milk than anything else. I used to eat Soy Dream Ice cream, but now I've noticed that Lactaid has their own Ice cream out now. It's tastes just like Ice cream. :)
