Hello all,

Been a while since I posted because I was hoping to give things a bit of a break after the results of the CT of my abdomen came back clear or "unremarkable" is how they put it. Liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas are fine. So that's good news. My new GP now says all my worries are "in my head" I take that as meaning there is nothing wrong with you quit bothering me. Just when I thought I had a good one!!

I've been moving along with my UP thinking things were staying something just short of remission. My UP seemed to be the least of my worries until the last month or so.

In the last several months or so, even though I'm taking Metamucil, my stools are always soft and loose along with some bleeding.  The issue that gets me the most is the gurgling that appears to be happening all around the left side of my colon. Seems like there is a build up of fluid/contents and then as if someone has pulled the plug in a tub, it all seems to drain away and does  sound like a tub draining as well. I can't say that it is painful per se, but I guess you could call it a 3/4 out of 10 pain-wise. As I mentioned in other posts I have lost some weight (8-10lbs) and I really have noticed it on my face.

I had a colonoscopy last May so I was always thinking I'm fine colon-wise for a period, but this is starting to make me feel like I should have my GI check me out again. Something seems weird. I'm back to having 6-8 BMs a day and they are all of the similar variety.

Anyone have that weird gurgling sensation happening? Should I push to get another C-Scope done?

I gurgle all the time. Pretty normal for me.

Maybe you should try a different fiber supplement. Sometimes they can cause gas and bloating. I'd also recommend a probiotic, if you're not already taking one.

Hi ZLSJ...didn't realise the GP mentioned it's in your head...did she say those words specificaally?

I think going back to the GI is worth a shot...considering this has been a very up and down year, maybe it's time for another c-scope..at the one year mark..than if all is clear, you could have one in 2 or 3 years. It was a long span between the other and a year ago in May if I remember correctly?

I get gurgling and gas if I'm flaring...but remember that IBS is a huge culprit in gut activity.

I take Bentylol daily...to help with that specifically...because I don't like the feeling of it...even though it can be quite entertaining..lol!

three suggestions.....rectal meds, fibre supplements and probiotics.

How are you feeling regarding the GP's statement? It's great the CT came back unremarkable..however.

Maybe the GI will come through to do the c-scope...at least you don't have to wait too long to get in to see him.

I think I would see a different doctor if mine told me it was all in my head. I am sure there are people who have conditions that are in their head but mine clearly isn't. I have many physical symptoms that indicate something is not quite right. I have a lot of gurgling too, sometimes I feel embarrassed about it. I would probably want to get a colonoscopy, with the symptoms you have there should be some indication of inflammation. I had barely any symptoms last time I had a colonoscopy and my doctor still took biopsies of areas that looked like mild inflammation. If you have soft stool and blood, I would think you can get some answers. My biopsies showed slight inflammation but said the Colitis was "inactive", not sure what that means. Have you had stool tests?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention my stomach/etc making the hungry type noises as well as the "froggy" noises, even though I've ate...all weird to me.

Yes, that is what the doc said to me,,,,those exact words "it's all in your head". Made me feel warm and fuzzy alll over. My wife has been using this line on me as well so It's not like I haven't heard the term many times before!

I do know that there are people who do literally have things inl their head. But I too know that mine isn't just in my head. No, I'm not feeling great about the doc's comments...the shine is coming off of her in a hurry.

Will likely have to give the GI another try. He may push me away too because I had my C-scope last May and endoscopy this May. Moderate UP from the C-scope and mild Hiatal hernia from endoscopy. H Pylori from bloodwork, occult blood from 2 of 3 stool smears..so it's not like something isn't up. But I guess it's not crazy enough for them to warrant further investigation.

Aaargh...this gurgling stuff is scaring me.  It's not the hunger grumbles. It's actual gurgling noises. It's mostly left side, but almost seems like I can hear it from the front side and back side. This is just another one of those weird things happening with me that are real and make me feel like something is going on with me.

Hello,

Meds - 4 x 800mg Asacol
           Cortifoam - Every 2nd Night

Supplements - Ferrous Sulphate

                       Metamucil Capsules

                       Probiotics

                       Digestive Enzymes

                       Olive Leaf Extract

Nothing seems to be working.

Last visit to Doc where she told me it's "all in my head", she ordered bloods again to see where stuff was sitting with my low ferritin, Lipase levels, CBC, etc and they called to ask me to come in, so I have an appointment on Monday.

I also have a GI appointment for mid August as well. I may go and pay for a colonoscopy if he doesn't order one. 

Anyone have an idea what the fee is to get one done?

you could do the cortifoam nightly for a while....I don't see why the doc wouldn't do a c-scope this year.

Are you using the Bentylol at all? that could help.

Looking forward to the results of the blood tests, however...I guess that's sent you into a bit of a worry?

I will give the cortifoam a shot nightly for the next bit. I was down to aonly a bit left while on vacation so was going only every 2nd night. Hoping you're right on the c-scope. I think he'll be ok with it, but I may be waiting for it...don't know how many strings I can pull without being able to talk with the nurse. If he won't, I can get a colonoscopy done in Vancouver for $1500.

I took the bentylol last night before bed and it seemed to help. I will try and take it more frequently. He prescribed 1 a day, can't imagine taking 2 would be the end of the world.

Yeh, you guessed it, blood results are making me nervous. But perhaps it will lead to some answers or more specific testing which is all I'm looking for!

How's the weekend going for you? I'll try and get an e-mail out to you today.

Your body might be making noises, because it is having trouble digesting the food/beverage you just ate/drank. Try keeping a food diary to see if you have a food intolerance.

I used to get noises all the time. It turned out that I am fructose intolerant. Now that I don't consume foods/beverages high in fructose or that contain HFCS, I no longer hear any noises.

I would look for another GP. All bleeding should be checked out.

So I guess the best thing to do is to keep eating the way I have, but track everything and when it is worse, then start eliminating??

I should be able to handle that!

I just switched docs, I think this one is prepared to follow through on checking the source of the blood, it was just the comment about it all being "in my head" kinda struck me the wrong way..
