Remicade dose

I just had my second infusion of Remicade last week and am not noticing a huge difference. Should I know by now if it is working? Also, the dose I am at is 5 mg/kg. Is that what most of you remicaders are at? I wanted this drug to work so SO BAD.

5 mg/kg every 8 weeks is the "standard" dose. If that doesn't work, it can be increased to 10 mg/kg or the schedule changed to every 6 weeks.

Also, not everyone notices a difference right away. It can take up to five infusions for it to really take effect in some people. I'd encourage you to be patient and see if it kicks in for you in the next 4 to 6 weeks.

hard to say for me - I was coming off Pred when I started Remicade so I wasn't in a flare.

All I can say it that I've been on it for two years and it's been outstanding.

I can push the infusion to every 9 weeks but if I push them to 10 weeks I sometimes start to have issues, not always.

That is correct just be patient.  I also had my 2nd infusion about 3 weeks ago and i finally can see a difference.

I actually have now had a few formed stools (wow).  I have pancolitis UC pretty severe, so i expected the Remicade to take a while to work.  I believe it will work for you just give it time.  i get my 3rd dose on August 5th. is your UC pretty severe?  We have to remember it's working from the higher level, and it may take time. 

I hope it works for you, take care!  Oh, i also noticed that i have been gaining weight, but i have to remember that i don't need to eat every 5 minutes to keep the weight on.
