breast or rib pain?

I am having pain in my chest, but I can't tell if its the breast or one spot between the ribs.  I saw my GYN and she checked it out and said she felt nothing but rib there, and then scheduled me for a mammo just to be sure.  Looking up rib pain brought articles about a syndrome that can happen with people with UC and other inflammatory diseases. Has anyone experienced this? I am on pins and needles just wondering here.

I have. Nothing to do with my UC though, and never has been. Just a rib out. Most recently over the weekend of 4th. Had to wait till I got back in town before I could get fixed, lol.

I have experienced this quite a bit, especially when I'm in a flare.  My doc identified it as Tietze syndrome or costochondritis (I think they are the same thing). You can Google those two things to find out more info about it.

YES!!  My daughter has this right now!  She is 16, dx 3 years ago.  They say it is costochondritis too.  She had a nerve block done and it worked really well, but now it is in another area and we are waiting for another nerve block appointment.  She says it is terrible! 

Jennifer, what have you found to help and how long does it usually last?  Are your UC symptoms always flaring when this happens?  She has been doing pretty well with that.

I experienced this when I had gallstones -which i have read can be associated with UC. It was the stones moving about in my gall bladder. I have now had it removed. Just another thing it may or may not be??!!

It does sound alot like costochondritis. I get rib pain too but not in the front. My ribs hurt in the back (thoracic) area. I have yet to figure out what is causing it - docs don't know either.

I haven't found anything that helps it. Usually I put ice on it and take some Tylenol. It seems to be at its worst when I'm flaring. I don't really notice it when I'm not flaring, but at times it comes and goes. I'm sure it's all related to the inflammation!

     I have had three or four episodes of pain in the upper middle part of my stomach.  More like a feeling of being punched really hard than of sharp pain.  It starts off mild and worsens and radiates to my back.  I experienced all the episodes while sitting at the computer.  I immediately stood up and the pain started to lessen.  Walking around helped some and then I took a tums as this happened between 8 pm and 9 pm in the evenings.  I notified my GI doctor today but he is doing procedures all day.  His nurse will call when he checks in.  They are always reliable.  She is concerned it may be my gall bladder...oh joy.

     A few weeks ago my bilirubin was a tad high and the doctor sent me for a liver panel.  The nurse said that all came back clear, so that is a relief.  I was just wondering since he increased my 6MP to 100 mgm, if this could be pancreatitis.  hmmm.  I am eating low residue , nothing spicy.

I have this don't actually know if it is the same thing
But I have this awful pain in my ribs in the back under the shoulder blades and front under the breast.
I always connect it to GERD or heartburn.

the pain feels more like a bruise than sharp pain. And of course I keep pressing it, does it still hurt? is it still there? ugghh

Many years ago I had this, it even hurt to breathe in and out.
My doc said it was a temporary arthritis, and gave me Voltarin which cleared it right up.
