I've been flaring for the past 4 weeks. It got pretty bad and at one point was using the loo 16x-20x/day. Took prednisone for two days and gave it up because I couldn't stand the side effects. I have been on Cortenemas for the past three weeks, and went down to 6x-8x/day. I'm currently tapering down these now. These only helped with the left sided problems, and not with the pain I was experiencing on the right side of my colon. I suspect I have colitis dispersed throughout pockets of my colon, but I'll have to wait till I get a scope. With a combination of diet and rest, I'm down to 2x today with no mucus or blood. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Also, I am supplementing with a probiotic from Walgreens. It has no corn syrup or soy in it. I also started smoking this week, but will gradually cut this down over the next couple days.
True remission only comes without the cortenemas and that will be determined a week from today and thereafter. The SCD has helped me tremendously, but only after I cut out the almond flour and the yogurt. Stools are started to firm up, and the urgency is gone. I started my first day of work today, and didn't have to go in over 8 hours. (That would be something if I soiled myself in the pharmacy.....)
