Off prednisone 2 weeks - feet and ankles huge...

Ok, I know my husband says see your doctor. I agree.  However, has anyone here had this problem.  Not much edema when taking prednisone but now off all medication and feet and ankles are bad - hurt and tight skin.  I am obese but never had this problem before.  I am concerned about congestive heart failure too but just wondering if anyone here has had this with prednisone.  Thanks!

My feet went from a size 9 to 12 while I was on prednisone. It took months to get the swelling down the first time. Now here it goes again cry .

Hi Elaine...I wouldn't wait to see a doc since you don't have that amount of edema normally.

Yes, congestive heart failure could be a possibility...but there are others as well.

Are you on any other meds for other issues?

Feet much better this morning and actually feeling better than I have since going off the medications.  I will wait a couple days and in meantime - push fluids (I don't drink much) and see what happens.  My blood pressure is fine.  I take medication for that and take my pressure at home.  My Mom and her sister died of CHF so I know the symptoms and what to look for.  I do believe it is the after affects of prednisone but of course that could still be CHF, darn it!

I had the same problem with prednisone and it lasted for two weeks after I came off the nasty drug. I was swollen from my knees down. It looked weird and it was very difficult to walk. I hate prednisone!!! I have been off it for over a month and now I am fine. I hope it is just the prednisone in your case too. Good Luck!
