Anyone bloated?

Hi guys,

I have been in a flare for the past couple weeks and got back on steroids.  I was taking 30mg for the first 10 days and decreased to 20mg which I am currently on.  I of course am having all the side effects that go along with them like insomnia, increased appetite, moodiness, etc.  This time, however, I noticed that my stomach is extremely bloated which has never happened before.  I am not sure if this is because I feel hungrier and am eating more but it is really obvious.  I could pass for being about 3-4 months pregnant in all seriousness.  My GI is out of town and I am not seeing him again until August 20th so I was wondering if anyone else gets this bloated feeling from Prednisone.  I haven't been on steroids for a couple years and I don't ever recall this happening.  I am worried that something is wrong because my stomach is normally extremely flat and now it is completely out there.  I did have one explosive bowel movement earlier today but have been straining ever since.  Any input is much appreciated.  Thanks everyone!

When on prednisone, people often get bigger and bloated from water retention and prednisone munchies. If you're concerned about it and haven't had this happen before, then do get in touch with your doctor's office and see what they say.

Yes.  I am dealing with losing the prednisone belly right now.  My moon face is gone but the belly isn't.  Happens to me every time I take the steroids.  It will go away.

I'm currently on 10 mg weaning off and yes I have a HUGE pouch.  It looks like I'm 4 months preg too.  It's esp bad after I eat.  This is the 2nd time I've been on Prednisone and last time my stomach got huge. It will go away though.

well thank god! when is the question.. been of pred for almost month now and i still have moon face and still have bloated belly.
its driving me nuts!
how much longer do i have to wait??!!??!!

It can take a while before pred is completely out of your system even after you've finished taking it for a while, patience is definitely a virtue, good tips when it comes to pred is trying to avoid salt/salty foods/beverages, drinking water during some of the food cravings (instead of eating food drink lots of water to help give you a full feeling). Exercises, even just lots of walking can also be very beneficial while on pred.
