Flaring after a colonscopy

Is it normal to have a flare after a colonscopy? my results came out better than expected with just colitis in my left side of the colon but ever since the test yesterday i have been going more times than normal and with lots of blood and mucus...any help would be appreciated

When your colon is already inflamed, the scope passing over that creates friction that can rev up the inflammation, especially if you have ulceration. Take it easy, take your meds, and try to keep known irritants out of your diet for at least the next week. If your doctor took biopsies during the scope that can add to your problem for a few days. In my experience a c-scope is much easier to tolerate when one is in remission. Best wishes for you to feel better soon. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

     Yes it is possible to flare after a colonoscopy.  A few years ago I was in the beginning of a flare and the doctor attempted to do a colonoscopy which really sent me into a tizzy.  After the colonoscopy he told me he could only go up 20 cm because of the inflammation.  I learned a lesson from this.  I NEVER have a colonoscopy if I even have the slightest sign of the start of a flare.  This past May the doctor performed a sigmoidoscope when I was starting to flare and that aggravated my rectum too.  However, I am concerned about cancer and asked him to do the test.  So guess I have no one but myself to blame this time.

Yep. Just had a sigmoidoscopy that shows I am not flaring, but all the tissue samples she took caused a little bleeding for the next couple of days. Even though I knew why the bleeding was occuring, I was still a little spooked.

My worst flare that recently landed me in hospital for two weeks began right after scoping. Not sure if it was the procedure itself or the fact that they took biopsies, but it definitely did a number on me.

I had a colonoscopy and less than a week later I had a barium enema. The next week I ended up hospitalized because of a severe flare. I definitely think the testing aggravated what was already going on.

Morning

I had a colonoscopy 1 week ago and since then I have been going to the bathroom alot with diahrea...like water, almost like when I was doing my prep before the scope.  It is usually the worst first thing in the morning, then I am fine most of the day until evening.  Dr. told me my colon was good, and not showing any signs of inflamation so I am a bit confused as to what is going on now.

Also, before I went for the scope, I was having a few issues with some itching and burning, but kind of went away until I was doing my prep, but I figured since I was going so much it was normal for it to get a little tender....anyways, since then I am in severe pain, and some bleeding when I wipe.   I have never had hemmies or anything so unsure of what they are but I have peeked and there does seem to be some kind of raised bumps, as well as redness.  I have tried using Anusol but it burns so much when I put it on that I cant stand it.  smhair    It also feels itchy from my butt to my vaginal area, and there does seem to be some bumps, and almost cracks in the area between the 2.

Sorry to be graphic, but if anyone has any ideas would be great.  I am trying to get in to see my family dr and get it checked but I just hate the thought of being looked at "down there"
