As the topic says. I was able to order Asacol off a Canadian site. When the meds arrived they were called Mesacol and appear to be made in India.
Any thoughts?? These are the 400mg pills.

No, I haven't but it sure makes you wonder how they come up with these names....just reading what you wrote made me think hey nothing like "Mes-acolling" up your "ass-acol".
Sorry, I know, weird sense of humour.

Haha I agree its all ridiculous these names. I'm just curious about
Mesacol and if anyone has had any good/bad response to it vs Asacol.

I notice that when I order from Canada the pills always come from other places. Mine usually come from Switzerland or it says Barbados on the package. I've never asked for the generic so I don't know it that may be why you got Mescol from India. I have heard there is a generic available in both Canada and India though, might make sense. Did you request generic? Did you search in the search box here or through google?

I did ask for generic. I was able to get 1000 pills for about
280 bucks. Thats pretty cheap I must say!
Havent read anything that would lead me to be worried about
the pills but figured I'd ask anyway.

I just did a search in the box on the top of the page and it appears that there are quite a few mentions of Mescol on this board. It seems like it is mostly people from Asia. I think it will work out fine for you. 1000 for 280 can't be beat!

Ah interesting. I tried searching at the top but maybe I did something wrong? Thanks for the help!

Wow... that's expensive.. I guess you don't have insurance that covers your meds? My Blue Cross cost for 1080 pills is $140.00. I think I would worry if the meds from India are the "real thing" or not. Do you have insurance?

I have been using Mesacol (made in India) for over a year now, and it works fine for me. I've got some insurance issues to deal with, and pay out of pocket, so Mesacol is a bargain compared to Asacol.

Thats good to hear Rio.
I have insurance but it does not cover meds. I'm a Realtor and have no group policy, and now because of this lovely condition can never qualify for insurance BLAH!

Not a problem sgtpeper. Hope it works well for you.
And following up on pb4's earlier comments on ridiculous names, I think it's just a group of sickos in big pharma rubbing it in that we have a problem 'back there'....ASS-acol, Can-ASS-a, ASS-athioprine, ColASSal....obviously I'm just kidding, but you'll be surprised at how much money these people spend to research and come up with the right names for our drugs.
