Has anyone ever heard of this. Apparently its a corticosteroid that may be nearly as effective as
="showDescript
ion(event, 'http://drugs.emedtv.com/prednisone/prednisone.html', 'A doctor may prescribe prednisone for reducing inflammation or suppressing an overactive immune system.', 'Prednisone')" onmouseout=hideDescript

prednisone
in treating mild ulcerative colitis, and it has fewer side effects.

This is marketed in the US as Entocort. For many it does have fewer side effects, for others it can still have devastating effects. It all depends on your body's sensitivity to steroids. As always, the lowest dose for the shortest effective period is the best way to go.

Thanks Judy, The biggest side affect that worries me about
Pred is the loss of bone. Do you know if entorcort has the same effect?

I've been using Entocort for nearly 2 years with nothing but 100% fantastic results. It's been my magic bullet. I get yearly bone scans done and so far they've been normal. Your results may vary though, obviously. I have zero side effects from using prednisone as well, so apparently I respond well to steroids.

I had a pathological fracture of my left tibia and fibula (leg) and osteonecrosis of the shoulder after using Entocort for three years.

I had terrible side effects from Entocort as well. I was only on it for about
three weeks but had constant headaches, joint pain, weight gain. I think, just like any other drug, it works wonders for some but not others.

I tried 9mg (equivalent to 40mg pred) for three weeks. It did nothing for my UC, but did start to give me the moon face before I stopped.

Swollen Colon,
I am thinking about
starting entocort ASAP, and was wondering if you could share more about
your experience and dosage? Do you take it daily, or only for a few weeks like prednisone? Have you come off and been in remission since? Your post gives me hope!
