Alot of doctors don't know how to treat SIJ dysfunction. And usually xrays and mri's don't show much either. I did alot of therapy along with adjustments, massage therapy and so on. I didn't get true relief until I found a doctor who knew what I was going through. HE has SIJ dysfunction. And knew what all is involved. (meaning all the areas that are effected by it) It gets worse as time goes on. Anyway..... it wasn't until after I had several months of treatment, injections and so on before my pain levels decreased enough to feel somewhat good again. It was after that I was able to actually SIT at my computer for awhile and do more research.
Seriously.... go to this website: lowback.com It will show you why you hurt, and what the heck is going on. It will show you how to do self corrections. It took awhile for me to be able to do full corrections because muscles were so tight and just holding me in the wrong position. And finding one that worked for me. Not only that, but when I first started, I needed to do them throughout the day. But, now I can do self corrections as needed. And usually I can fix myself before I feel like I am just falling apart.
Do I still have problems? Yes. Walking, standing, sitting for long periods do make me flair up. As well as the weather and when I am sick I tend to have difficulty as well. But it's nothing compaired to what I dealt with for the first 2 years.
