work after remicade infusion?

I am to start remicade infusions next week and was wondering if there was any reason that I would not be able to work after them. I have them scheduled for 830 on fridays....and because I miss work for GI appts and stuff I would prefer not to miss anymore than I have to.

I did desk work, and was able to return to work after my infusions. (Now I'm retired, so it isn't an issue.) If you find you're tired and don't want to do that, perhaps you can schedule them in the afternoon and work in the morning.

I work from 8:30 to 5:30 so I schedule mine around my lunch time..usually 12:30 or 1. That way I've worked half a day. I usually do go home after though because I get tired.

i work 7:45 til 4. The infusion room only does infusions from 8:30 - 11 AM. Soo if I did it at 11:00 then I would have only worked 3 hours which isn't even half of my day. But I guess if I did it that way then it would give me some hours I wouldn't have to use leave for. I guess I should take part of the day off for the first infusion and see how I feel. I actually work at the medical facility that I will get them at...so not like i have to go far.

I was always too tired to go back to school. They pumped me full of IV benedryl and I'd just fall asleep and be groggy the rest of the day. Guess it's different for everyone

I have so far been able to do anything I wanted after my infusion.  However I do not have to have any Benadryl while I am having the infusion.

I've never felt tired or affected in any way after my infusions. I always go about my normal day. I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to work!

I don't recommend it. I drove home after mine once, and I'll never do it again. It was scary.

My first infusion I had a reaction.  They gave me benadryl and I was out of it and I felt weak (like I had the flu).  My second infusion they premedicated me with tylenol, and hydrocrotison. I was fine during the infusion but after I felt weak and tired.  My third infusion they premedicated me with the same stuff and I was fine.  I take all day with my infusions because I have a reaction so they do mine very slow.  I get there at 9 and I'm usually not done until 3-3:30.  I get chest pains so they don't want to go any faster.  I guess it depend on how you respond to the infusion.  Good Luck.

I also was getting violent reactions, so I am given 50 mg. of benedryl before and 25 mg. during my infusion along with Zyrtec, Tylenol, Predisone.... There is no way I could go back to work. Luckily I live an easy drive home. My infusions start at 1:30 and I am out at around 5:00.... In the winter, it is dark and hard for me to drive but I stay on one street until I turn off into my development.

I always feel great after my infusions, just knowing that I'll soon cease having symptoms again (I start to get symptoms the last week before my next infusion). I schedule them on a Saturday morning but then I usually do errands or get together with friends ... no problems. No Benedryl needed though. If you don't need any premeds and feel fine just go to work. Maybe for your first infusion take the day, see how it goes, but then try to schedule them early so you can work a full day after if you feel up to it.

I used to take benedryl before my IV which would wipe me out for the rest of the day. I asked my Dr if I could take Claritin. He said as long as I take an antihistimine that it really didn't matter. Now I feel fine after my IV.

winter .. that is a lot of pills.. oh my goodness! lol. How do you do it? Cant you just take a multivitamin?
