I've been wondering whether any members in Canada take brandname Colazal? (Made by U.S. pharma Salix.) Probably not, but just in case ... would appreciate hearing from you! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Old Hat, we just had a discussion here within the past few days, and the conclusion seemed to be that Colazal (or Balsalazide) are not approved by the Canadian health plans.

Whoops! I missed that thread, Judy. Do you recall the title? / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I checked my pharmacy and was told it's not available in Canada....at least he couldn't find any availability on the computer there.
Interestingly, it's available through the on-line pharmacies.
i see my doc at the end of the month...I can ask him if it's available.

That would be great if you could ask your gastro, Quincy. Have you seen any Canadian online pricing the brandname? It is sooooooo bloomin' expensive here w/o insurance & I'm now wondering what kind of Rx coverage I'll be able to get for it in retirement-- the most likely scenario is a hefty co-pay. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... When I checked out Colazal canada...the on-line pharmacies came up. I don't know the prices on there.
All UC meds (except pred) are expensive. I'll ask the doc if he knows when it'll be available in Canada.

The Colazal on the "Canadian" pharmacy website is from the U.K. I looked into it.
