"Accidents" are unfortunatley part of the disease, most of us have had them (on many occassions) and yes it's awful and embarassing but if you need to talk about
it here you can, it helps to talk about
it...the reason we have such shame is because of society and that's based on the fact that once you've been potty-trained then it should never happen, BUT when you have a disease that makes "accidents" happen then there should be no shame so you can definitely discuss it here with no shame.

Don't worry about
"it" Shadam.
"crap happens" begins to make literal sense when you have UC...so hope you're better today. Keep a note of what you ate (or did) that could have worsened things, so that you can have an idea for what to avoid in the future.

I hear you, man... "it" happens to me about
once a week! It sucks, but it does get more bearable.....Remember this- Nobody knows it but you! and us, of course, but we don't count!

Thanks for the responses everyone, you're all encouraging. I was a little set back last night knowing what happened but you guys are right, it happens, I just have to accept that it's part of having this disease.

Shadam...have you recently started fibre supplements?
How about
you being on rectal meds....that could help with some of the "it" happening.
I've never had an accident other than at home...and it's usually from trying to hold it too long..
Diet can help in the way that the more gas one has, the less pressure behind the stool that can help us get to the bathroom in time.
I can feel your embarassment...I would feel the same, whether I'm at home alone or not.
Yes, it's part of the disease, but it doesn't mean the impact isn't great on our personal self.

I only had "it" happen at home, but it was still mortifying.

"it" happened to me at home before. I have had to rush home a few times to avoid "it" happening. I have also sweat until I was wet trying to avoid "it" happening in the car. I think we all feel for you. I am sorry "it" happened to you too.

"It' happened to me at home on my worst days. I just changed my diaper and cleaned myself.
It happened once when I was going home in my car, just 3 minutes away. I had a chance to find out that the diaper I used was not absorbent enough. I had to wash my pants and my clothes after cleaning myself. I also washed the car cushion which I sat on.

Feeling your pain hun, the last 2 times it has happened has been on special occasions (my anniversary and birthday), it's like it knows and it waits. Last weekend I had to pull over on the side of the road and go at the side of the motorway, on the hard shoulder, to avoid an accident. It's awful, and my other half has been with me when it has happened, he says that the look of despair on my face is heartbreaking.
I don't even suffer with full blown diarrhoea which makes it even more confusing, but it's the urgency that I suffer with that makes it unmanageable at times.
I get an overwhelming panic now when I leave the house, and I know that I'm no where near a toilet. Don't let I consume you too much, it can make what's already a dfficult condition to cope with feel unbearable. It has stopped me from doing so much, please don't let it do the same to you.
