I flooded the toilet at work

I usually work from home but was at my company's headquarters today (and flaring) and I flooded a toilet in one of the restrooms.  No one else was in there and it's a large headquarters with many floors and restrooms.  I was so suprised and embarassed I just left it there, but I felt guilty leaving it there for someone else to clean up.  I wouldn't even know who to contact.  What is the etiquette to do with this?  I've never done this in public before   

this happens! Yes try to look for a maintenance guy - that is best you can do if it is not working. I once had a bad time was in a hurry airport - had to return rental car... happened on way! :-( can never forget how i felt :-(

Just because you report it doesn't mean you did it. I think you can usually tell the front desk that there is a clogged toilet in the ladies room and they will call maintenence. I have never clogged a public toilet but I have clogged the toilet at my friends house, that was quite interesting.

It's harder to report it when you're guilty. THe other day I was at a restuarant and the toilet was clogged, I didn't do it and I reported it without a problem. I bet if I were the culprit I would have thought twice before reporting. They probably thought I did it...

Anyone else ever embarrassed about buying a plunger? I feel like buying it is like saying, "I clogged my toilet and I was too lazy to prepare properly for this so I had to rush out at midnight for a plunger". I never buy one until I experience a clog. Needless to say I move a lot and always assume i'll have the incredible uncloggable toilet.

I think about useless things too much.

not sure what i would do in the situation, but thinking about it right now, i would probably run away and say nothing.

Serial flushing not only prevents the clogging/overflowing, but it also can hide any embarrassing noises!!!

Wow..I can relate to this...I just did this a few month back...panicked, then attempted to unclog the toilet, when my phone (in my shirt pocket) fell into the toilet..now, angered at that development, I had to try to figure out a way to get the phone..pants around my ankles, I slipped on the now wet floor, and my glasses followed suit in the every greedy ceramic theif..I finally gave up and just called it a day..just another day living with UC.
