My first Remicade treatment

I got my very first Remicade treatment today and everything went well.  I finished around 1 oclock, and now I am feeling really tired and just generally yucky.  Anyone else have these symptoms?  Do you get symptoms every time?  How long did they last?

I am very hopeful that the Remicade puts me in remission like it has so many others on this site.  I will keep you posted.

Did you gte Bendryl with the Remicade? If so that may be why you feel tired. I have been having infusions for more than two years now and I feel fine during and after. I really look forward to them because lately they have been losing effectiveness after four to five weeks so by the time that sixth week rolls around again I am more than ready to go in and get a break from my symptoms.

If you aren't getting Bendryl with the Remicade I am not sure why you would be feeling unwell after the infusion.

I've been on Remicade since March 2006, and I still feel tired after my infusions. Sometimes even the next day I'm a little tired. Try to take this chance to rest and recharge your batteries. By tomorrow afternoon you should be fine, and hopefully the Remi will be working to control your UC.

Yes, I was pre-medicated with Benadryl and Tylenol. It was only 25mg of Benadryl and that was at 10 this morning so I would think by now that has worn off. ?????????

I think it's probably just the Remi. I know a lot of us do feel tired after. It does get better over time, and I could go back to work for the afternoon when I was working. Now I'm not working, so I come home and baby myself.

I used to have the Benedryl before I started too and it made me sleepy. Now I take a Claritin. I generally don't have the sleepy feeling when I get home, but this time it really zapped me. So, who knows! Let a day go by and see how you are feeling. Usually a good night's sleep and I'm up and around again. Glad to hear the infusion went well for you! Oh....and welcome to HealingWell! Keep us posted on how you are doing.

I've had five infusions of Infliximab, (Remicade), so far and always feel tired after it. The first infusion took two hours and I had a nap in a bed for another two hours after that before I left the hospital. I'm normally tired for two or three days afterwards. I never had any pre-meds except a saline solution to ensure that the tube was clear.

Well its Wednesday night and I had my first Remi infusion on Monday morning. I felt like poo (no pun intended) yesterday with body aches and generally tired feeling. Woke up this morning feeling fine! I even went to the mall for a couple of hours with my daughter.

Doesn't it feel wonderful? I remember how thrilled I was shortly after my second dose, when I could actually go to two stores to shop without becoming exhausted or needing to find a bathroom!

Yeah!! So glad to hear you are feeling better!!!!!

I've only had one infusion so far but it did make me tired and lethargic for about 2 to 3 days afterwards.. But I don't get much downtime in my life, so it was a great excuse to just "couch it" and give myself a nice break from things.. I just plan on having things done so when I get my next one, I can have 2 or 3 days to be a veggie and relaxxxxxx.... like having a little 3 day break every 2 months.. hee hee...

I can't chime in on the remicade, but I can on the Benadryl. When I take it (or ANYthing that says "may cause drowsiness") I'm completely out for 12 hours, then am groggy the entire next day. Stuff like that really hits me hard!

yeah  I had my second Remicade infusion 2 days ago and didn't feel nearly as lethargic afterwards this time !!!   I think I have found my "miracle drug" lol.  Since just a few days after my first infusion I have had 1-3 formed BMs daily and I have only had 1 episode of rushing to the bathroom (I ate Japanese food lol).  I haven't gotten completely back to normal with my energy level, but I can sure tell a difference.  I have tapered off the Pred and I am looking forward to not having the shakes!  God is great and life is good !
