A week after second Remi infusion and...

it's all gone!

No pains
No runs
No mucous
No arthritis
No uveitis
No nuthin'

This past week I've been eating anything I want and going where ever I want to go without staking out the bathrooms. This is nothing short of a miracle!

Well I'm off to start my new life...

Later, and thanks to everyone for giving me enough hope and guts to try Remicade.

     That's wonderful news Nick!  Hope you continue to feel better every day.  Personally, I am so afraid to try Remicade.  My doctor has been pushing it for a few years but I was exposed to the TB virus back in the 60's and my doctor's associate witnessed a fatality on a patient who was also exposed to the TB virus and received her first infusion of Remicade...scared the wits out of me.  Right now I am in a horrible flare of my Ulcerative Proctitis.....bleeding, cannot hold my bowel movements at all....mucus...all that good stuff.  Afraid to eat.  Doc doesn't want me back on prednisone...been on it from June thru end of Aug..now flaring again.  Was also on prednisone for seven months last year.  Already have osteoporosis, high blood pressure and when on the pred...elevated blood sugar.  REally contemplating that Remicade because this is a horrible way to live.

Christine1946 I can empathize with you as just a few short weeks ago I was in a flare that began on July 4th and never stopped until now. Are you considering Humira?

Hey Nick, so good to hear. When I first started I too was very sick, and I've been on it for 4 1/2 years and haven't looked back! May you enjoy continued success with the Remi...now go out and enjoy life. p.s. Isn't it a strange feeling not to have to look for a bathroom or when you have gas...not to leak?

Great news, Nick!

Don't get too wild with things, you still have UC and it can remind you at times. For me, it's any time I take antibiotics.

Awesome news!! I got the chills just reading about this!!

I have an appointment with my GI this Friday to start my Remi infusions.  I live in Florida and have soooo many different things that I want to do!! I'm praying to god that Remicade works as well for me as it is for most people on this site.

Good luck and I hope this treatment works for a long long long time for you!

Got scheduled for my first infusion within the next month! :) :)

Currently in a flair that I'm finally coming out of, but I CAN'T go through this again... Can't live like this and I've told myself if remi does NOT work, which I'm praying every day that it does when I start it, I'm not even going to hesitate for surgery. I'm 19 and I can't live with these flairs, I've lost 45 pounds on both flairs and was hospitalized for a week with this current flair.. no fun!

So pray for me too that remi works!!! congrats on yall that it has worked so great for

So happy to hear that Remicade has been successful for you~!!!! It has for me as well... I feel so lucky right now.. I was in a bad flare for over a year.. I Had a surgery consult on October 12th and the Surgeon suggested I go ahead and get my colon removed... scary thought... Anyhow, I had my first infusion on October 22nd, and haven't seen any blood since! I mean the very next day I had a poopie and NO blood... I couldn't believe it because I was having blood and clotty looking stuff with every poopie for so long... It feels so good to go to the bathroom and not have to worry about how much blood your going to see..

Congratulations ! It's amazing how quickly Remicade works for some of us. A warning though, don't miss a treatment. I was on Remicade for 6 months and lost my insurance so missed a dose. Within 3 weeks I was in a major flare and ended up in the hospital for 9 days. Lucky for me I was accepted into the Remicade Assistance program and am back on it. For me, the Remicade cleared up the blood within a day and relieved me of all symptoms within a week. I know there's a lot of potential side effects with Remicade, but to be able to live a "normal" life is worth the risk for me. Again, glad to hear of your success with Remicade !

Thanks again to everyone! Sorry I haven't been by here lately, just been living life to the fullest and not suffering with any issues at all! Well that's not entirely true I'm losing a little hair but I could care less as I'm almost bald anyhow ;)

Third loading dose is the day before Thanksgiving and I'm looking forward to it.

     Hi Nick!  Well, I am biting the bullet and going on Remicade.  I stopped the 6MP (doc told me to do this today but I actually stopped on Thursday).  I had to start back on prednisone, otherwise I know I would have been in the hospital over the weekend.  My doctor's associate placed me on 30 mgm but my GI doctor (had the consult today with him about Remicade) told me to take 60 mgm of prednisone today to kick start healing and drop to 40 mgm tomorrow and stay on 40 mgm until I see some improvement.  His nurse is trying to get my insurance approval ASAP for Remicade so I can start it.  He did an awesome job of explaining every detail about how Remicade works, how it was made, etc..  Hubby went into the room with me and feels so much better about my starting it now than he did before.

     I had the PPD test on Friday and it was negative!!!  I had a positive PPD test back in the 60's, so I am very surprised that this time it was negative.  Hope the prednisone didn't give me a false negative.  I doubt it since I only just started on the prednisone the day before the PPD test, been off it for two months.

     I pray that I have the wonderful results you are enjoying yeah

     By the way, is the cost covered by your insurance or is there a hefty co-pay?

I'm on disability so thankfully I'm covered 100%. Also I forgot to mention that I've already begun the prednisone taper and am down to 5mg now. I hope you get approved soon and I'm sure you won't regret the decision to go forward.
