I don't know what to say... I found this forum seching for anybody who does colon transplantation. Hoping I'll find some good news and don't have to worry any more. But more I read I'm loosing all my hope in normal living any more. I've had a surgery, they removed my colon at 13.07.2006. I'll never forget that day. And I still have problems. It seems that my immune system is attacking puch. And almost every month I have to take drugs (ciprinol) for 10 days. And even when I get better with those drugs I'm still not good. I still have problems but less then usual.
I tried a lot of things... teas, potions, homeopathy... Nothing helps.
Did anyone had problems after the surgery and manage to fix it with something? What should I do? This isn't normal life... I see other people and I'm longing to live my life like them. I would do and give anything to be a healthy and whole just like anyone else.
Can anyone help?

maybe you should consider going to a pouch. also, get a book called the maker's diet. It may help.

I am So sorry to hear about what your going through. I am new to UC. but there are alot of people here who have been dealing with it for years i hope that they can help you out all i can say from one newbie to another is welcome and i hope you get this figured out.

So you've had the j-pouch surgery and you're having complications with it?
Most of us on here still have our colons, so we won't be much help to you. I suggest you visit www.jpouch.org to see if anyone on there has some advice. There is also an ostomies forum here on HealingWell.

As for a colon transplant, that's just not done. For one, it's possible to live normall without a colon, and second, if one's colon is removed due to UC, there is no guarantee that the body wouldn't just attack the new colon as it's an autoimmune disease.

Colon transplants have been experimented with in the past, they are very very costly, time consuming since you have to make sure you've got as an exact donor as possible, and then there's still the risks of rejection and infection and likely a life-time of taking meds to help prevent rejection, so docs won't even consider it because it's not necessarily life-threatening to have UC when you can have your colon removed and wear a bag with less complications than trying to have a trasnplant (it's not like with a heart or liver)...plus, colon/small intestinal trasnplants done in the past have shown the diease to become active again at some point anyways (I believe the longest "remission" due to transplant was 10 yrs), with IBD it's specfically the intestinal organs that get attacked by the disease so putting in new intestines won't keep the disease from attacking them at some point.

I know that any advice can help and I done some research. I found this:
O. Morio L., O. Maculata L., O. Militaris L., O. Mascula L., O. Laxifora Lam., O. Tridentata Scop.
We call it SALEP or Kaćun (ć - ch). It's a drink made of roots of a Orchid. I didn't have a chance to try it, but I think that I will, soon.
And one more thing - this one helped me a lot - St John's wort tea. It may not stop the inflammation, but it's the only thing that helped me except the drugs... For now smilewinkgrin

Dalmatinka-If none of that works,and you do end up with an ileo, i promise, its not bad, and it wont interfere with your life. I hope you get things straightned out and good luck!
