Hi. My 18 year old son went through all these same steps of the disease and drugs. For him Remicade did not work. I understand that it does work really well for a lot of people, and is absolutely worth a try, but that was not our case. Sept 2nd he had his colon removed and the end of January will have a J pouch built. I tell you this, not to scare you, but for just the opposite reason. For my son, the surgery has been a blessing. He had been so sick for two years and his life was out of control. He made the decision that enough was enough and decided on the surgery. This was after many months of getting as much information as we possibly could and finding the very best colo-rectal surgeon in our area. He is now living life to the fullest. A few weeks ago he had blood tests done and everything was NORMAL. There most certainly are adjustments but he is learning these while being HEALTHY. I truly hope that Remicade works for you guys but at the same time don't think that surgery is a last resort....most people, that have had it, say that is the best decision that they ever made and wish they had made it sooner. I count my son as one of those.
