I had been paying 10% (just under $400) co-pay for my remicade infusions, which were being billed as "miscellaneous outpatient services." I just got the statement for my October infusion, and it showed no co-pay at all because it was billed as chemotherapy (which, technically, it is.)


Please cross your fingers for me that this is not a billing mistake! If not, I'll be doing the happy dance for sure!

I certainly wouldn't call anyone and bring attention to the change! I certainly hope it lasts! That kind of money multiplied over your infusions each year=money for a vacation, if you want!

Not telling anyone - you guys and my husband, that's all. I know other people here have said they had no copay because it was billed as chemo, so I feel pretty sure that's the difference. My stand on it is "Hey, it's about time you learned how to bill it right."

That would be money for granite in the kitchen in my case, lol.

Oooh, granite would be nice! If we ever get a chance to do granite, I'll jump on it. I want one of the slabs with a lot of pattern/swirls in it. To me, that's what makes granite so pretty! DH and I pretty much always do a home improvement project for Christmas. A couple of years ago it was new carpet for the whole house, and this year it was adding a run of cabinets and a pantry system in our kitchen. We had some open wall space that was basically wasted, so decided the new cabinets would add some much-needed storage space.

We're really romantic like that!

I can't believe someone else does that too, fruitgirl! We agreed years ago with both of our families that instead of getting little presents for one another we'd just all take the money and buy something nice for ourselves. Only the children get gifts. We've bought lighting, new computers, furniture, ceramic tile and all sorts of really romantic things for ourselves!

I really don't need a vacation, because I'm on a permanent one. :-)

I'm not saying I don't covet a pair of princess-cut diamond studs to "match"my engagement/wedding ring, though! ;) But, for now, the cabinets sure made me happier than the earrings would.

that's how mine are billed too! Roughly $13,000 per infusion..... every 6 weeks.... for the past 3 years..... I've yet to pay a dime! I love the way my hospital bills!!!! tongue I covet house things.... HGTV is one of my fave channels.

For the first three years I got them at my doctor's infusion center, and it was billed as an office visit. I paid $35 each time. Then I moved and it was ten times that, until I got my maximum out of pocket. I hope this is the way it will be from now on!

     Judy...that is great news!!! Mums the word!  I have a question for you and was going to post it under another topic but since you must be reading these....here goes.

     The other day you posted that you were depressed when your doctor diagnosed you with prednisone induced diabetes.  I have the same problem.  However, my family doctor never sent me to an Endocrinologist.  He said to just watch my diet and when I am off the prednisone things should return to normal.   But, heck, I am scared walking around with a blood sugar of 187.  This morning my FBS was down to 105.  The 187 was two hours after my dinner last night, which consisted of small portion of chicken, mashed potato and spinach.  For dessert I did have some frozen yogurt.   What do you suggest?
