Best movie to get your mind off of UC...at least for a little while

Just saw A Christmas Carol in 3D at an IMAX theater and it was amazing.  The entire movie is like your are living in one of those Viewmasters we had as kids.  Also, if you ever dreamed of flying this movie is for you.

Lots of beautiful Christmas music and christmasy scenes.  The Victorian age in England was rather dark, and its portrayed well.  I enjoyed it immensely.

My boyfriend and I went to see Fantastic Mr. Fox, it was really good!

Also I really like Across the Universe.

my favorite feel-good movie, especially at this time of year, is "love actually." it's a little cheesy but it's SO good and is guaranteed to make you feel better, no matter what you're feeling physically. come to think of it, i think i'll watch it soon :)

CrazyColitis, if you like horror movies check out the Japanese ones, they really freak me out and not much does. This one Korean movie also freaked me out pretty good, it was called A Tale of Two Sisters.

And for those who like a good thrill, "Orphan" was awesome. Not another stupid teeny-bopper movie either. An actual Adult thriller/horror movie.

I'd say watch Ju-on (the original Japanese version of the Grudge). You might crap yourself, but that's from fear, not UC. Also [REC], a Spanish-language zombie film (there's an american remake called quarantine but from what I read they totally cheapen it, especially the end). Pan's labyrinth was good dark fantasy. I also like Jacob's Ladder and Session 9 for psych horror.

Horror movie buff? How could you tell? Crazycolitis, I agree with ElephantPipe. Nobody does a good ghost story like the Japanese (their 'hungry ghosts' are called onryou). The gorefest pathetic excuses for horror movies we see in the US these days absolutely pale in comparison to their foreign counterparts. That's why Ju-on was scary as hell, but the Grudge sucked. Or why REC was amazing and has a really freaky, possibly paranormal turn in the last few minutes, whereas Quarantine just cheapens the whole thing by changing the ending.

For those who want something more uplifting, Up was really good. Or, watch Glee on Hulu (not a movie, I know, but the show is excellent).

I would have to vote for disaster movies ... i love them for some reason. Independence Day, The Day after Tomorrow, Poseidon ... or movies with lots of action and stuff blowing up. My hubby got lucky with me because I am not a romantic chick flick type of gal ...

I like August Rush, most football movies especially Radio, My Sassy Girl (the original korean version), and of course most disney movies with my daughter.

So far, my all-time sci-fi movie has to be District 9...,

I LOVE action movies, mysteries, dramas with a twist. Loved the Weatherman although NC isn't my fave actor.

My fave romantic comedy movies are French Kiss and You've Got Mail...

I haven't seen UP yet, but I hear it was uplifting..lol!

Can't think of anything else at this point...I do need to see more movies, however.

Any movies that can make you laugh. Real deep belly-laughs are probably the most therapeutic forms of treatment no matter what ails you.

I love Love Actually! Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time.
I just bought my nephew Up for Christmas and my boyfriend goes "Do you think we can open it and watch it and then wrap it?" lol now I really want to see it!

Very true. Best in Show was a real belly-laugh of a movie.

uc in flare mode for about a month now due to a stress filled hospital visit for my wife and my first child. cramping and bleeding persist even with enema use. any suggestions?
