love4cats....my cat is a puker, she must have a very small stomach or something. Anyway, the food she was on for many years was Performatrin and Solid Gold...both dry. She always drank a lot of water....good poos and enough pees.
But, she's been hit with vestibular disorder, has 3 legs with some sort of arthritis or strain but her back is perfect (thankfully). She also has URI herpes from the Humane Society...
We have her on L lysine, and it seemed to help with her pain as well...possibly also the vestibular issue if it's herpes related.
As she aged, she got interested in wet food thankfully because with the pain, her poos weren't doing so good, very dry, etc.
We went through a distressing time with her bleeding/pee dribbling...she was not doing well over a day and we got her into the vet asap. She got a shot of penicillin and it helped for a few days, then whammo. She was worse. Then she got another shot called Convenia...awesome! She also was given a narcotic to settle her distress....lol....she was stoned and didn't sleep for 16 hours. That's when I was distressed, she paced back and forth, but finally settled.
So far everything is good. We've started mixing water in her wet food, but found her poos weren't substantial enough so added some dry...Wellness Indoor Health.... to that mix (not separate and in small amounts). All is good, she's drinking water readily and pees and poos are perfect.
WE asked the vet about the dry food connection....she said if this was the first one, it was probably from her age and maybe combo of licking butt/vulva...so who knows.
I think that the probiotic would help....but haven't done the research as to how much.
Any suggestions?
