Metametrix GI lab test

Has anyone had a Metametrix lab GI profile done? It's basically a stool test and they use DNA probes which I guess gives more info, maybe too much. Anyway my daughter had one and it showed some evidence of parasite presence but not identifiable. This is all through an alternative, integrative doctor; he has recommended and prescribed Alinia for 3 days. Has anyone had any experience with this drug? She just had her remicade infusion and is finally feeling good and I am nervous to send her into discomfort. The dr. said it is tolerated well, much better than flagyl. It is an antiprotozoal.
we are otherwise looking at colectomy, it seems worth trying at this point.

Hi Fruitgirl,
thank you for sharing your experience. The Remicade reallly isn't working, at least its barely working and I don't see it being her long-term med. However, they upped her dosage and it seems like she's getting better, just know from the past year that she gets anemic and doesn't feel good after a month, and we were starting to take surgery more seriously. Then this gi test comes back. I believe her colon is still a little ulcerated today, she got her Remi on Monday. I don't want to aggravate an already upset colon by "trying" this med, but then if there are parasitic remnants (I'm not really clear on this test, don't know if it's super accurate, etc.) that could be the etiology of her colitis, I would hate to have not tried it.
But when she's in pain I can't bear it.
