</b> Remicade possibly causing liver damage, so don't want to push my luck.
I have high blood pressure but controlled with medication. For cough and cold my doctor told me to take Coricidin HBP, decongestant free cold relief for people with high blood pressure. Haven't had to take it for awhile though. I try to stay away from people with colds and wash my hands very often throughout the day. Lately I even avoided church as our Catholic Church still shakes hands and they don't provide hand sanitizers. Plus, the last Mass I attended must have had a hundred sick people in there coughing and sneezing....why do they do this???? Guess they don't have enough sense or just don't care if they infect others.
Yah. I went to urgent care a few weeks ago for an ear infection. I got there before the center
opened and got a cold because someone who also got there early kept coughing. He didn't even cover his mouth. The receptionists were giving out masks to those who had colds, but by the time they put them on, they had already coughed a few times. To top it off, one of the receptionists kept coughing, and she was not wearing a mask. I heard her tell the other receptionist that it was okay that she wasn't wearing a mask, because she was coughing in her sleeve. The other receptionist didn't look too happy.
It seems to be an American custom not to wear masks. No one wants to be the sole person doing it. When I was living in Taiwan, people wear masks all the time if they had a cold or were being careful not to get a cold for some specific reason. Personally, I think the Asian masks looked better than the American ones. You can buy them at Asian markets.
In the yoga teaching training class I just attended, if anyone was coming down with a cold, he/she wore a mask and did not partake in partner yoga. Our teacher says that when we do something, we give permission to others to do the same thing. Wear a mask to church and you will give permission to others who feel weird to be the only one wearing a mask, and talk to your church about
the issues of shaking hands when the swine flu is going around. They need to be more sensitive to others' health.
