That's a 5ASA right? I was on Asacol which is one and I didn't have any problems. Most likely you'll be fine, although I think a few people have not reacted well and have gotten headaches and more UC symptoms. But that's definitely not the majority.

All I would say is good luck and hope it works for you! I just started Lialda 2 months ago and it's worked great for me. I haven't had any side effects or anything so not much I can tell you there. I think most people tolerate it fine tho. Only thing i'd say is stick with it. Even if at the beginning it doesn't seem to be helping. It mite take a little bit of time. I was on it for almost 2 and half weeks before I really noticed a change and now i'm doing great. Again, good luck!

You're starting off with only one pill a day?

When were you diagnosed? Where is your UC..throughout or limited?

Q I was diagnosed back in early Sept of this year after a year of he!!. At that time I had lost 40 pounds +. I was told inflamed throughout colon..nothing in small intestine. I got things under control with alternative meds and was scared to start Asacol that I was originally prescribed because of the side effects. New GI wasnt against my alternative treatment so we watched it for a couple months..Still doing ok but he wants me to add Lialda just to keep me out of another mess. Mo rectal meds at this time. For the most part everythinig is normal just have some anxiety issues I need to get over regarding how close I was to a bathroom. Never had any visible blood or anything like I saw posted here. Worst part was terrible cramps, left side pain and constant D.

Just remember that one can have inflammation with no symptoms. the 5ASA meds are helpful if you can take them. It's not a high percentage who can't, so that's a good thing...hope all will be well with you.
If you do end up having ANY symptoms, do request to start rectal meds...it will help to hopefully keep things limited to the lower part and not have the rest of your colon following suit. The Lialda will help, but not at one pill a day.
How long will you be waiting before you increase it? 2 daily is a good maintenance level.
Keep us posted as to how it's going.

lialda worked great for me with no side effects...took 2 months to get me in remission. Now that is a different story that past few days i m seeing lialda in my stools means it is not dissolving. So i will wait and see if it continues for long-then i m switching.
