anyone have a portable toilet??

Has anyone tried a portable toilet in the house? My husband and I live in a small apartment with 1 bathroom. We are expecting to have three guests over for at least two weeks and 5 people to one toilet is really freaking me out! it's much to embarrassing for me to make my guests leave the bathroom when i really need to go, and i really do not want to explain my problem to them. i thought about getting one of those portable toilets to put in my bedroom in a small closet, just in case of an emergency. Has anyone tried this before? Any recommended brands of portable toilets?

I have one I made up myself in my car- it's an square platic tub, about 10x10 inches, that I line with a plastic grocery store bag. I always have a box of tissues in my car, & believe me, I HAVE used it more than once! I'd like to (maybe) someday get a better one, but it works in a pinch. There are tons on the internet, all types, cardboard, plastic, etc. I say go for it- the mental assurance you get from knowing there is always *something* available to poop in is priceless. Just knowing it's there makes any car trip so much less threatening & worrisome. I know personally, I would have to have one in the circumstances you describe! We have 2 bathrooms, with 4 people in my house- you'd think that'd be plenty, but there have been times when it's a close call, for sure. I'd give my right arm for a half-bath off the kitchen....

I dont have one for the house, but I do for the truck.. Called a bumper dumper.. saved me on many occasions.. open the hatch slide in the hitch and bomb I have a toilet.. Work a lot in the rural area.. people laugh, but when one of my co workers found out he wants to use it now when he gets that sudden urge...lol

This last december 31st, we had 25 people at home for a party. With 1 toilet.
I knew I would eventually end up in a situation where I would have to go, especially with all the rum & coke :)

So, what I did is I put 3 or 4 plastic bags in my trusty IKEA plastic waste basket in my closet..

I had to use it and it was very effective ;) I wrapped everything in the bags after I was done and put it outside on the porch to freeze. Tada!

I bought one of those camping port-o-pots and put it in the back of my van, it's come in very handy on many, many occassions...I think if I had only one bathroom in the house I'd buy one for inside the house too...we have to be clever with this disease, always try and think one step ahead.

Yes, we have one - stored right now but can get it out.  I have two bathrooms but we have a well so sometimes we might need it so I kept it from an RV.  We got it at Sears.  You buy the chemicals and special TP and have it on hand and you can just empty it into the regular toilet.  Worth having for security!
