Kidney Stones

When i was hospitalized for my UC on November 8th, I discovered that I have 2 Kidney stones in my left kidney one is 5mm and the other is 7mm (which is pretty big) and 1 in my right kidney which was 2mm. None of them were ready to be passed so there was nothing to worry about. On December 27 I woke up with excruciating pain in my right kidney and at 6pm I went to the ER thinking i had a UT infection. The doctor soon informed me that my pain was being caused by a 6mm stone that created a blockage in my kidney. i was rushed via ambulance to Choc Children's Hospital for treatment and pain meds. In a little over a month one of my stones grew 4mm!!!! Im really freaking out because I keep forming more and my doctors are running tests but they wont be back for a couple weeks. Does anyone else have kidney stone problems and if so how do you deal? I'm only 15!!!!

Ah, kidney stones are pretty harmless, though really painful. That sucks, but the only thing you can do is wait it out and bombard the larger ones to break them up.

There is NO pain like kidney stone pain - I feel for you!
My son had kidney stones 4 times between the ages of 4 and 7. At age 7 he had a lithotripsy - sound waves to dissolve the rest of the stones in his kidneys.
It worked well - maybe you could ask about that?

Do you know if the stones are calcium or oxalate? What they're made of will help the docs figure out how you might be able to prevent new ones.

My kid is on hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ( to help flush the fluids through his kidneys more quickly, and he hasn't developed any new stones.
