My story: I was diagnosed with U/C, and suffered for years. Went through all the doctor meds. Prednisone was the only thing that helped, and I had to go off it after a year for fear of osteoporosis. To make a long story short, I have a "J" pouch now.

A friend of mine "Dave" called me and said he is bleeding and thinks he has U/C like I did, and he went to the doctor. Sure enough, he was diagnosed U/C. He knows what I went through, but his wife didn't believe in medical intervention, only as a last resort, so she investigated in herbal treament.

Within a month, he was completely healed U/C free, and 10 years later, he has had no troubles at all, GONE. I was very happy for him, but also very angry that maybe I could have been saved the trouble.

Just wondering, do you know which specific herbs he used? Especially as there are so many herbal and homeopathic treatments available nowadays, so doing a general online search would bring up a lot of information that isn't relevant or accurate.

I'm sure your friend wouldn't appreciate you posting his name and state of residence on-line. I know I wouldn't.

I didn't vote. I don't believe herbs are a cure for everyone. I have been using a variety of supplements and have seen some measure of relief from some of them, but even if all of my symptoms were gone, I would consider myself in remission rather than cured.

I'm glad your friend has found such success.

I do not in any way feel that I was "hammering" you, Daytonaken. I expressed that I am glad for your friend as well as expressed my own opinion of herbal remedies and cure vs. remission. Surely we are all entitled to that, yes? I didn't feel any of the options in the poll suited my thoughts, so thus, I chose to respond rather than vote.

Btw, I had not read any other posts from you before responding here-I am sorry you feel that you have been treated unfairly here. I can assure you that the people here are really quite supportive and do welcome new members readily-but it is difficult for people when someone comes here offering the kind of information that you have-that is hopeful yet vague. I think many people just are not sure what to make of that.

For what it's worth, I don't think you're selling something because I didn't see you mentioning a particular product. In fact, I believe you were trying to be helpful encouraging people to look for alternatives instead of just following the conventional route. The problem, as others have mentioned, is there are many who don't have the same good intentions as you and are more than willing to make a buck from the suffering of others and they sometimes appear on this board. Having said that, I know of someone who was never able to go into remission, tried IV solidremol (sp?), humera, many transfusions, hospitalizations etc. No luck. Has been in remission for over a year with a radical change in diet and herbs. I do believe it's possible.
